Maruti Suzuki launched the premium MPV XL6 in the Indian market, which was long due in the market. The new model is based on the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga but there are a host of differences between the two. What are changes that make the XL6 different from the Ertiga? Well, here are all the differences that you will find between the two vehicles.
Premium sales channel
The XL6 will be sold through the Nexa sales channel, which is a premium sales network of the brand. The XL6 is the first MPV that will be sold through the premium network. With the addition of the XL6, the Nexa now offers 5 cars including the Ignis, Baleno, Ciaz and S-Cross. The Nexa dealerships offer personalised service that makes the customers feel special.
Price
The new XL6 starts at Rs 9.72 lakh, ex-showroom, which makes it quite expensive. The base version of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is priced at Rs 7.55 lakh, ex-showroom, which is a good Rs 2.17 lakh cheaper. The top-end version of the Maruti Suzuki XL6 is priced at Rs 11.46 lakh, ex-showroom.
No diesel option
Marui Suzuki recently discontinued the 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine available with the Ertiga. However, the Ertiga continues to offer the 1.5-litre diesel engine as of now. Since Maruti Suzuki has announced that they will not offer any diesel engine option after the BS6 emission norm is effective in the Indian market from next year, the XL6 only offers a petrol engine. The XL6 and the Ertiga share the same 1.5-litre petrol engine with SHVS mild hybrid system.
Comfortable middle row
The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is only offered in a single 7-seat version. The XL6, on the other hand, is only offered in a 6-seat version. This is the major difference between the two models. Maruti Suzuki XL6 offers captain seats in the middle row instead of the bench seats available with the Ertiga. This makes the middle row occupants much more comfortable, especially over long-distance journeys. The middle row seats offer the slide and the recline feature too.
Sporty interior
The XL6 offers an all-black interior theme unlike the dual-tone beige and brown theme offered in the Ertiga. The XL6 gets a black dashboard, black seats and black door trims, which makes it look very sporty. It adds a premium feel to the cabin. The top-end version also gets leather seats.
LED headlamps
The Maruti Suzuki XL6 offers full-LED headlamps, Daytime Running Lamps and fog lamps. This makes the car look extremely premium. Also, the LED lamps are much brighter than the halogen lamps that are available with the Ertiga and offers better visibility at night.
Cruise control
One of the most important features when it comes to highway driving – Cruise control system is now available with the XL6. The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga does not offer a cruise control system. The cruise control system can be used through the steering wheel of the XL6 and makes it a much better highway vehicle.
Looks muscular
Maruti Suzuki has changed a lot of things in the XL6 to differentiate it from the Ertiga. To start with, the front-end is completely different and it gets a different grille and headlamps. The major difference is the ruggedness of the XL6 that has been added through the body cladding that goes around the vehicle, front and rear skid plates and the integrated roof rails of the car.
Quieter
Maruti Suzuki has also worked on the NVH of the vehicle. As per the brand, the soundproofing of the vehicle has been improved, which makes it quieter on the go. This reduces engine noise and road noise and makes the cabin much more comfortable.
