Maruti’s big discounts on Ciaz, Swift, Celerio,Ertiga, WagonR and Alto

In a bid to spur festive season buying, India’s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki has lined up a slew of discounts on its popular cars. The discounts start right from the entry-level Alto,going all the way up to the Ciaz C-segment sedan. Maruti is offering a maximum discount of Rs. 1 lakh. Here are car-wise discounts, and the reasons for them.

Ciaz

The Ciaz Diesel gets the biggest discount of 1 lakh. Competition in this segment has increased with both Honda and Hyundai launching new models of the City and Verna respectively. The Ciaz Diesel gets a cash discount of Rs. 50,000 Cash and an exchange bonus of Rs. 50,000. The car is expected to be refreshed in 2018. Apart from a visual facelift and additional features, engines of the Ciaz could also be replaced.

Ertiga

The Ertiga MPV, which is selling quite briskly, also gets a hefty 1 lakh rupee discount but split into many separate packages. On the diesel Ertiga, Maruti dealers are offering a 10 gram gold coin worth Rs. 30,000, a cash discount of Rs. 10,000, an exchange bonus of Rs. 45,000 and corporate discount of Rs. 5,000. In total, the discount adds up to Rs. 1 lakh. The Ertiga is expected to be replaced by the end of next year/early 2019, with an all-new model.

WagonR

The manual versions of the WagonR get a discount of Rs. 60,000. This discount includes a cash discount of Rs. 24,000, a 4 gram gold coin worth Rs. 12,000 and an exchange bonus of Rs. 24,000. The AMT variants of the car get a total discount of Rs. 69,000 (Rs. 25,000 cash, 5 grams gold coin and Rs. 24,000 exchange bonus). The current WagonR is likely to be replaced in 2019, with an all-new model.

Swift

The Swift Petrol gets a 41,000 rupee discount (Cash discount of Rs. 20,000, 2 grams gold coin and an exchange bonus of 15,500). The diesel variant get a 45,000 rupee discount (Cash discount of Rs. 24,000, 2 grams gold coin and an exchange bonus of 15,500). The Swift will be replaced by an all-new model next year. The new car will be shown at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo in February.

Celerio

The Tiago is nipping on the Celerio’s heels. To boost sales, Maruti is offering Rs. 48,000 off on the manual gearbox equipped variants of the hatchback (Cash discount of Rs. 20,000, 3 grams gold coin and an exchange bonus of Rs. 19,000). The AMT variants get a 58,000 rupee discount (Cash discount of Rs. 22,000, 4 grams gold coin and an exchange bonus of Rs. 24,000).

Alto

The entry-level Alto gets a 55,000 rupee discount, which is quite a large one considering how inexpensive the car is. The discounts are split up as a cash discount of Rs. 20,000, a 5 grams gold coin and an exchange bonus of Rs. 20,000. The K10 variant gets a smaller discount of Rs. 47,000, split up as a cash discount of Rs. 15,000, a 4 grams gold coin and an exchange bonus of Rs. 20,000.
