Maserati launches Levante SUV in India

The Italian luxury carmaker, Maserati has officially launched the Levante SUV in India priced at Rs. 1.45 crores, ex-showroom, India. This is first ever SUV offered by the brand in the Indian market and it is available in three trims: regular, GranLusso and Gran Sport. The car will be sold through three dealerships of the brand in India in Mumbai, Bangalore and New Delhi.

The luxury car is available with a 3.0-litre diesel engine that produces a maximum power of 271 Bhp and peak torque of 600 Nm. It can propel the SUV from nought to 100 km/h in just 6.9 seconds. The top speed is limited to 230 km/h. Internationally, a 3.0-litre petrol engine is also offered but that has been omitted from the Indian line-up.

The power goes through an eight-speed automatic transmission. It gets the Q4 all-wheel-drive system.Maserati also offers an optional ‘Active Sound’ exhaust that changes the exhaust tone depending on the driving mode of the vehicle.

The car also offers a hydraulic steering wheel, torque vectoring chassis, and ride height adjustment. The SUV gets four driving modes – Auto Normal, Auto Sport, Auto Manual and Auto Off-Road. The Levante has been made using lightweight materials that help it achieve 50:50 weight distribution and lowest centre of gravity in the segment.

“The introduction of 2018 Levante is our commitment to satisfy the significantly increasing demand for premium SUVs in India. The design, exclusivity and performance are the key characteristics when describing this new Maserati; and will turn out to be a distinguishing factor for the Trident in the luxury SUV space ”

On the inside, the car gets Maserati Touch Control System and an 8.4-inch high-resolution screen. There is the use of premium leather, wood, platinum-effect metals, hand-crafted contrast stitching on the upholstery and more. Maserati also offers optional upgrades that include sound systems that have been created in association with Bowers & Wilkins or Harman Kardon.
