Suzuki UK has launched the Ignis Adventure, a special edition model of the tall-boy hatchback. The Ignis Adventure has various cosmetic additions that make it look quite striking. Many of these cosmetic additions are already available in India through Maruti Suzuki’s personalization program for the Ignis.
For example, the hatch lid spoiler, front fog lamp bezels and colour accents are already available as optional accessories in India. The UK model of the Ignis Adventure also has bumper extensions, side decals and skid plates that Maruti could easily offer if it wants to. So, the Ignis Adventure is something that Maruti could offer in India as a special edition model.
The company is known to constantly refresh its products through special edition models. In the past, Maruti has launched limited and special edition models of virtually every car it sells here. From the Alto to the Swift, and even the Omni, such models have been introduced from time to time. The Ignis, which hasn’t been a great seller for the brand, could benefit with such an edition. Something like this will infuse excitement to the car, and perhaps boost sales.
Currently, the Ignis sold in India is offered with 2 engine options – a 1.2 liter K-Series petrol with 84 Bhp-114 Nm, and a 1.3 liter turbocharged diesel with 74 Bhp and 190 Nm. Both engines get 5 speed manual transmissions as standard. Maruti also offers a 5 speed AMT on both the engines as options. The Ignis starts from Rs. 4.56 lakhs and was launched to replace another tall-boy hatchback – the Ritz. The car is offered with airbags and ABS as standard across variants. Maruti also offers a range of personalization options for the car through NEXA dealers. The Ignis is targeted at younger car buyers who want a youthful, funky car.
