Mercedes Benz India will soon launch Edition 1 versions of the A-Class and B-Class hatchbacks. Details about what these cars will feature, in Edition 1 guise, have been revealed. The Edition 1 kit will be added only to the diesel variants of the A-Class and B-Class hatchbacks, as the diesel powered models bring in the lion’s share of sales.

The cars will go on sale in the coming weeks, at prices that are higher than the regular variants of the A-Class and B-Class hatchbacks. The additional equipment and changes on the Edition 1 variants of the A-Class and B-Class hatchbacks include:
- Edition 1 body decals on the flanks
- Edition 1 badging
- Black coloured wing mirror housing
- Panoramic sunroof
- Boosted ground clearance by means of raised suspension
- New alloy wheel design
- Electrically adjustable front passenger seat with memory functions
- Central arm rest for the rear seat
- Reverse camera
- Rear seat entertainment package for the B-Class
The Edition 1 variants of the cars have been launched to commemorate the 1st year anniversaries of the hatchbacks. Also, customer feedback has been taken into consideration and this reflects changes such as the boosted ground clearance and the additional creature comforts.

The diesel variants of the A-Class and B-Class hatchbacks feature a 2.2 liter-4 cylinder turbocharged engine that outputs 107 Bhp and 250 Nm. Mercedes Benz also offers a 1.6 liter turbo petrol engine with outputs of 120 Bhp and 200 Nm. Both engines power the front wheels of the hatchbacks by means of 7 speed dual clutch automatic transmissions.
The A-Class and B-Class hatchbacks are based on the MFA platform and are the most affordable cars that Mercedes Benz sells in India. The cars will be joined by two other MFA platform based cars, the GLA crossover and the CLA sedan. The GLA crossover will bow in later this year, while the CLA sedan will arrive next year.
