Mercedes Benz CLA45 AMG spotted in India

Mercedes Benz will inaugurate its first ever AMG focused facility in India on the 15th of May alongside the launch of the ML 63 AMG. The CLA 45 AMG, which is the least priced performance vehicle from Mercedes Benz, has just been caught on  Indian roads and the same will soon be launched in the country. The performance sedan was first showcased at the Indian Auto Expo 2014. The car caught on the road could very well be a display vehicle meant for a dealership as Mercedes Benz doesn’t test AMG cars in India.

Mercedes Benz is on a product launch offensive of late and has been launching a slew of high performance AMG car in the country. Currently we have the C 63, E 63, ML 63, GL 63 and SLS on sale (ML 63 AMG goes on sale on May 15) and now Mercedes is all set to bring us the CLA 45 AMG. The car is expected to be launched later this year, in the third quarter at a price tag around the Rs 50-60 lakh mark as it will be brought in via the Completely Built Unit (CBU) route that entails steep import duties.

The CLA 45 AMG has a 2.0 liter turbo charged petrol motor under the hood that loves to be pushed to the red line. 360 Bhp of raw power coupled with a peak torque of 450 Nm is what you get to ensure that you are pinned to the seat every time you press that gas pedal a little harder.

The engine gets mated to a 7-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT transmission that sends the power to all the wheels of the car. Notably, the 2 liter turbo petrol engine in the CLA 45 AMG is the most powerful 4 cylinder unit that is in production currently. There are multiple drive modes on offer and the highlight is the Race Start mode which goes all guns blazing at the road.

The top speed has been limited to 250 kmph and the CLA 45 AMG will do the 0-100 kmph whack in just 4.6 seconds.  It gets the visual AMG kit as well, which further lends character to the performance hungry sedan. Mercedes will also bring the regular CLA sedan early next year, which is expected to bring in a lot of volumes for the three pointed star brand.
