Mercedes Benz GLS SUV is singer Neha Kakkar’s latest set of swanky wheels

Popular playback singer Neha Kakkar has just taken delivery of a brand new car – a Mercedes Benz GLS 350d, also known as the S-Class of SUVs. The luxury SUV is priced at Rs. 82.9 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi, with the on road price going close to Rs. 1 crores. This is Ms. Kakkar’s second luxury SUV, and she’s previously been seen in an Audi Q7, a  similar 7 seat vehicle that also used a turbocharged diesel engine. The Audi Q7 is a vehicle similar to the Mercedes  Benz GLS but is slightly smaller in dimensions.

The GLS 350d is powered by a 3 liter, V6 turbocharged diesel engine that produces 255 Bhp of peak power and 620 Nm of peak torque. It gets an all wheel drive layout as standard and uses a 9 speed torque converter automatic gearbox to transmit torque to all four wheels. Mercedes Benz’s largest and most luxurious SUV, the GLS can seat 7 adults, and gets a range of safety features including 9 airbags. ABS, traction control, ESP, hill hold, collision prevention assist, crosswind assist, attention assist, Pre-Safe, Brake Assist and cruise control.

It’s quite luxurious and feature-filled as well. Features on the inside include a new 8-inch free floating infotainment screen, leather wrapped three-spoke steering wheel, new instrument cluster, a touchpad unit placed  between the two front seats, and seats wrapped in Nappa leather. The vehicle measures over 5 meters in length, is  nearly 2 meters wide and stands 1.85 meters tall, or about 6 foot tall. It weighs a massive 2.5 tons and rides on 20 inch wheels. Airmatic air suspension is standard. The SUV is also available in AMG trim.

AMG trim not only adds stylistic changes but also enhances performance to sportscar levels. It uses a 5.5 liter V8  twin turbocharger equipped petrol engine with 577 Bhp and 760 Nm. The SUV can sprint to 100 Kph from standstill in under 5 seconds and hit a top speed of 250 Kph before the speed limiter butts in. The AMG spec GLS features a The AMG variant is much more costlier too, with an ex-showroom price tag of Rs. 1.92 crores. While the GLS 350d is assembled in India, the AMG variant is a direct import from Germany.
