Mercedes Benz has just launched the GL63 AMG, the most powerful SUV from its stable in India. The performance oriented SUV is soon going to get itself a sibling in the form of the ML63 AMG. Mercedes Benz has just announced that the ML63 AMG will be launched in India on the 15th of May.

The international spec ML63 AMG comes with a 5.5 litre V8 twin-turbo petrol motor under its hood. This engine churns out a maximum power of 557 Bhp and a mammoth torque of 700 NM. Armed with copious power and torque, the SUV does the 0-100 Kph sprint in just 4.8 seconds before touching an electronically limited speed of 250 kmph. If you opt for the additional AMG performance package on your ML63 SUV, you can do the 0-100 Kph dash in 4.7 seconds and touch a top speed of 280 kmph.

The engine of the ML63 high performance SUV is mated to a AMG Speedshift 7G-Tronic automatic transmission. It sends the 557 horses to all the four wheels using the 4MATIC system. Through this all wheel drive system, forty percent of the torque reaches the front wheels while the larger chunk is sent to the rear wheels.
The SUV’s European mileage is 8.47 Kmpl but the Indian one could be lower considering the traffic conditions here. Internationally, the buyer gets a choice of 11 colour options for the exterior (we doubt if all will come to India) and 5 interior leather options alongside two trims.
Expect the SUV to be priced around the Rs. 1-1.25 Crore mark as it will be brought into India through the CBU (completely built unit) route. The Porsche Macan Turbo SUV, which is due for a launch later this year in June, will be the ML63 AMG’s prime competitor.
With the ML63 AMG, Mercedes Benz is continuing its launch blitz in India. The German luxury car maker is likely to give market leader Audi a stiff challenge in the Indian luxury car market as it has more high volume products lined up in the form of the GLA crossover and CLA sedan.
