Mercedes-Benz will launch the facelift model of its entry-level SUV in India next month. The new GLA was showcased at the Detroit Motor Show earlier this year and carries a few changes on the outside and new features to distinguish it from the current model.
The facelift version of the GLA carries tweaked bumpers, a newly designed grille and updated alloy wheels. The optional bi-Xenon lamps have been replaced with LED lamps. The tail lamps also get tweaked with LEDs in them. The new GLA is also 30mm higher than the existing model, giving it a more rugged look.
The interiors are the same as the current model, except for subtle changes. Mercedes-Benz has put in the same 8-inch infotainment system that takes centrestage on the dashboard. The car gets additional chrome bits in the cabin, making it look more premium. The upholstery has been updated too. Mercedes-Benz now equips the vehicle with 360-degree parking camera with bird’s eye view and electric tailgate with motion detection, which needs a wave of the foot to open and close.
Mercedes-Benz will keep on powering the new GLA with the same engine options. The car will get the 2.1-litre, 136 Bhp diesel and 2.0-litre, 183 Bhp petrol engine options. Similar changes will be also incorporated by the GLA 45 AMG.
In the international markets, Mercedes-Benz has a new offering called Yellow Night Edition that comes with black exterior paint with yellow highlights. It is highly unlikely that Mercedes-Benz will bring it to the Indian market.
The refreshed GLA will take on competitors such as BMW X1 and Audi Q3 in the market. Mercedes-Benz is proactively updating its car line-up. The brand recently launched the E-Class E220 d. Following that, the brand has launched the facelift G63 and the GLS 63 AMG.
