Mercedes Benz cars now selling for less than a new Toyota Fortuner & Ford Endeavour

The three-pointer is the ultimate word in the world of luxury. More commonly known as the Mercedes-Benz, the German automaker is among the oldest auto companies in the world and its founder is also credited with making the first production vehicle, the Benz Patent-Motorwagen. With all that history attached to their name, no doubt that Mercedes is among the top automotive brands in the world and makes almost every type of cars. However, owning one can be a far fetched dream for most in India as Mercedes cars cost a bomb here.

Mercedes-Benz A-Class

The Mercedes-Benz A-Class hatchback, as its name suggests, is the most affordable car from the German manufacturer in India. The luxurious hatchback, however, can give other similarly priced cars a run for their money as it comes with all the bells and whistles to justify its price tag and badge. Talking about the discount schemes, it is currently being offered with a total discount of Rs. 6.25 lakh. However, the discount is applicable only on the 2017 year models. The A-Class starts from Rs. 27.86 lakh for the base variant while the top end variant of the car costs Rs. 29.26 lakh. This makes it a whole lot cheaper than the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour with the above discounts applied. However, if you want an SUV and not a hatchback, this is not the deal for you.

Mercedes-Benz B-Class

Total Discount: Rs. 6.25 Lakh

Next up is the B-Class which sits as an entry-level 5 seater MPV in Mercedes-Benz’s model lineup. The car faces no competition at the price tag it is placed in and is getting a discount scheme worth up to Rs. 6.25 lakh this month. However, the discount scheme is only applicable to the models made in 2017 or 2016. Prices of the B-Class MPV start at Rs. 30.10 lakh for the base variant while the top end variant of the car retails at Rs. 31.36 lakh. This means you can have this premium MPV for much less than what the base variant of the Toyota Fortuner or the Ford Endeavour would cost you.

Mercedes-Benz CLA

Total Discount: Rs. 10.25 Lakh

The Mercedes-Benz CLA is one of the best looking cars in its price segment. It borrows those unique styling elements including the sloping coupe-like roofline,  from its elder brother, the Mercedes-Benz CLS. Talking about the discounts offers, the sedan is getting a massive discount of up to Rs. 10.25 lakh on it this month. Models manufactured in 2018 are getting a discount of Rs. 4.25 lakh while 2019 made models get a discount of Rs 3.25 lakh. Prices of the CLA start from Rs. 31.72 lakh for the base variant while the top end variant of the sedan costs Rs. 36.99 lakh.

With the mentioned discount applied, one can get the top end variant of the car for less than the top end Toyota Fortuner or the Ford Endeavour. Moreover, the performance-oriented CLA 45 AMG is being offered with a huge discount of Rs 10.25 lakh, though the discount is applicable on 2015 made models.

Mercedes-Benz GLA

Total Discount: Rs. 6.10 Lakh

Last on the list is the Mercedes-Benz GLA is a compact SUV crossover which is the most affordable SUV/crossover from the German manufacturer. In India, the GLA rivals the likes of the Audi Q3 and the BMW X1 among others. Coming to the discount schemes, the vehicle is currently available with discount schemes worth up to Rs. 6.10 lakh. The 2018 models are getting discounts up to Rs. 6.10 lakh while the 2019 GLA models are getting Rs 4.35 lakh and Rs 2.50 lakh off for the Sports and Urban Edition variants, respectively.

The compact SUV crossover is priced at Rs. 32.33 lakh for the base variant while the top end variant of the car carries a price tag of Rs. 38.64 lakh. With a discount of Rs. 6.10 lakh applied, one can buy even the top variant of the Mercedes-Benz GLA for less than the Japanese and American SUVs mentioned here.

Worth the shot?

Simply put, these are some excellent deals for sure and the three-pointed badge means that you’ll get a lot of attention wherever you go. However, the aftersales service and maintenance cost Mercedes-Benz cars is substantially higher than the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour. Moreover, spare parts for these cars also cost a bomb and hence you should only go for these deals if you have deep pockets. Another point to note here is that these cars are not meant to be very rough and tough vehicles and if that is how you plan to use your ride, the Toyota and Ford SUVs mentioned here will serve you better.
