The B-180 CDI is powered by a 2,143 cc, four-cylinder diesel engine that puts out 109 bhp of power at 3,200 to 4,400 rpm and 250 Nm of torque at 1400-2800 rpm. This is mated to Mercedes excellent 7-speed G-tronic dual-clutch automatic transmission with paddle shifts. The power output on the B-Class diesel does not seem like much, but it’s good enough to power the car to a maximum speed of 190 kmph. The best part though is the fuel economy, with a claimed 18.98 kmpl to the litre of diesel and a 50 litre diesel tank. Also read: Mercedes Benz B-Class unveiled and driven

The vehicle comes in four colour choices – Jupiter red, Polar silver, Cirrus white and Monolith Grey. The car is almost identical to the petrol counterpart apart from the badging on the tail gate. In terms of design, the B-Class is a little quirky as it has bits taken from the SUV range and bits taken from the hatchback and sedan range to create what’s essentially a compact multi-purpose vehicle. It is far more spacious than the A-Class sports hatchback that was launched recently, and in that aspect, it is a bit more practical as well. Also read: Mercedes Benz B-Class launched at Rs. 21.49 lakh
