Mercedes-Benz India has launched the C250 AMG performance edition based on the C-Class sedan at Rs. 34.62 lakh, ex-showroom, Maharashtra. The C250 AMG carries a premium price tag over the regular C-Class, which has a price range of Rs. 25.27 lakh – Rs. 33.90 lakh. Only 100 units of the C250 AMG performance edition will be available for sale.
“With the launch of the New C-Class AMG Performance Edition; Mercedes-Benz aims to redefine the luxury entry level sedan segment,” Peter Honegg, Managing Director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India said. He said the C-Class has been one of the most successful sedans from the Mercedes-Benz portfolio and has received overwhelming customer traction since its launch. He added that the company has sold close to 15,000 units of the C-Class since the launch in India in 2001.
The C250 AMG has distinctive looks unlike the regular C-Class. The C250 AMG gets AMG body kits including stainless steel exhaust, stainless steel sports pedal, sports package interiors and 4.5-inch TFT color display on the central console.
The C250 AMG is powered by a 2.2-litre diesel engine that puts out 204 Bhp of power and 500 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission. Sadly, the C250 AMG performance is no different from the regular C-Class because both have the same engines (no power torque hike).
The C250 AMG takes on the recently launched Audi A4 and the upcoming BMW 3-series sedans. The C250 AMG performance edition (Rs. 34.62 lakh) is cheaper than the Audi A4 3.0 TDI variant (Rs. 38 lakh) but is still dearer than the A4 2.0 TDI variant (Rs. 29.38 lakh).
