Mercedes has launched the range topping version of its flagship SUV, the GLS 63 AMG. India previously had the GL 63 AMG, however the company didn’t launch the GLS 63 AMG version till now.
The GLS63 AMG is priced at Rs 1.58 crore, ex-showroom Pune. This makes it cheaper than the GL 63 AMG which was on sale before, which had a starting price of Rs 1.66 crore ex-showroom.
The main highlight of the GLS 63 is the 5.5 liter twin turbo V8 that sits under the hood. It produces 577 Bhp and 760 Nm. The engine is mated to a new 7G-Tronic gearbox. Till now, the GLS was only on offer in the normal V6 petrol and V6 diesel engine options. Those who want a massively fast, yet practical SUV now have this to go in for. It does 0-100 in a brisk 4.6 seconds. The vehicle comes equipped with AMG Ride Control, sports suspension with Active curve system and roll stabilisation that helps make the drive more dynamics.
On the outside, the GLS 63 AMG gets the AMG bumper up front, the AMG body kit, larger air dams in the bumper, red brake calipers, 21 ” AMG alloy wheels and the mirror package wth the brand logo protection. It still continues to get the LED headlamps with LED DRLs. The best part is that it gets the High beam assist, which is very useful especially in India where everyone drives on high beam.
One on the inside, you now have the AMG performance steering wheel which is wrapped in black Nappa leather. It also gets the AMG branding badges all over in the cabin. The car is equipped with a Hatman Kardon Logic 7 surround sound system, front seats with massage function and memory, climate control system with cooling cup holders as well. The middle row is electrically foldable and the third row is electronically foldable too.
