2022 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class launched in India

Mercedes-Maybach has introduced its most luxurious saloon in India. The Maybach S-Class is available in two variants. S580, which is made in India and gets a price tag of Rs 2.5 crore and Maybach S680, which is a fully-imported CBU model and is priced at Rs 3.5 crore.

Mercedes-Maybach will come to India in a limited number every year. However, the brand announced that the S680 4MATIC variant remains sold out till 2023. Due to the overwhelming demand for the sedan, Mercedes-Benz decided to assemble the base variant in India at its Chakan plant.

The new-generation Mercedes-Maybach made its debut back in November 2020 in the international markets. Due to the pandemic, the arrival of the car got delayed.

Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is longer

Based on the standard S-Class, the Maybach S-Class gets a 180mm longer wheelbase. The added space goes to the rear passengers. The car is nearly 5.5-metres in length, making it one of the longest cars in the market.

The Mercedes-Maybach gets some of the most advanced and unique features. It gets a “doormen” feature that allows the rear passenger to do a hand gesture and close the door automatically. Even the driver of the car gets a button to operate the rear doors.

The rear seat is where the Mercedes-Maybach offers most features. The car gets rear seats that can be adjusted between 19 and 44 degrees recline. There is a retractable leg rest as well.

The Mercedes-Maybach also looks quite luxurious. It gets a distinctive bonnet that gets a chromed fin and a Maybach louvre grille with vertical slats. The Maybach S-Class also gets LED Digital lights. The all-led set-up works as intelligent lights and automatically dips when it sees an incoming vehicle.

The limousine rides on massive 19-inch Maybach forged alloy wheels. It gets the retro monoblock design. The tyres are optimised for noise that assures a silent cabin. Mercedes-Maybach also gives an option to increase the size of the wheels to 20 or even 21 inches.

The feature upgrades include a multi-contour seat massager, heated armrests, door panels, seat ventilation, and a calf massager for the rear seat passengers. There is an option of executive seating that adds wooden trims, a full-length centre console and deployable trays. The executive package also adds a champagne cooler and custom solid metal flutes.

It also offers level 2 autonomous driving with evasive steering assist and active brake assist with cross-traffic function. The cabin is wrapped in Nappa leather.

Power engines

The new Mercedes-Maybach S580 gets the 4.0-litre V8 twin-turbocharged engine with the EQ Boost of 48 volts. It is a mild-hybrid system. Together, it develops a massive 496 Bhp and a peak torque of 700 Nm. The Mercedes-Maybach S680 gets a massive 6.0-litre V12 engine that develops a maximum power of 604 Bhp and a peak torque of 900 Nm. Both the cars get a four-wheel-drive system and 9-speed automatic transmission.
