MG Astor: Features of upcoming SUV showcased in official video

MG Motor unveiled their fourth product Astor for Indian market recently. It is basically a rebadged version of ICE version of ZS facelift which is sold internationally. MG Astor is a mid size SUV and will competes with the likes of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Nissan Kicks and Renault Duster in the segment. The video has been shared by MotoReviews on their YouTube channel. They have shared a portion of MGs feature film of Astor showcasing its features. In this video, the presenter starts by showing one of the cool features in Astor. If you forget your key, Astor offers a digital key feature that allows you to not only just unlock the car but, also drive it using the mobile phone application.

Next the presenter talks about safety features. As per the video, MG will be offering as many as 27 features as standard with the Astor. This includes ESP, Auto-calibrated traction control system and Hill Descent control which is a segment first feature. MG is also offering features like up to 6 airbags, 360 degree camera, Autonomous Level-2 or ADAS and many more features with the SUV.

MG Astor is the first car in its segment to get this feature. The ADAS offers features like Lane Keep Assist, Rear Drive Assist which includes, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Blind Spot Detection and Lane Change Assist. MG is also offering Intelligent Headlamp Control which automatically activates and deactivates high beam on your car depending on the oncoming traffic.

One of the key feature in ADAS is the Automatic Emergency Breaking. It detects an object in front of the car and gives warning to the driver and if the driver ignores this warning, the car automatically applies break to avoid a collision. MG is also offering features like Adaptive Cruise Control, road speed sign detection and much more.

MG Astor is a good looking SUV in the segment and it offers features like leather wrapped interiors, multi-function steering wheel, virtual assistant that moves left and right depending upon the direction where the command is coming from, 10.1 inch touchscreen infotainment screen, connected car services, inbuilt air purifier, automatic climate control, panoramic sunroof and many more features.

Coming to the engine options, MG is offering only petrol engine options with Astor. There is a 1.5 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that generates 110 Ps and 144 Nm of peak torque. This engine is available with manual and a CVT gearbox option. The next engine on offer is the 1.3 litre turbo petrol engine that generates 140 Ps and 220 Nm of peak torque. This engine will be offered with a 6-speed automatic transmission as standard. MG is expected to price Astor quite competitively as it will be competing with the segment leaders like Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.
