MG Hector SUV: Official specifications & new TVC out, launch in June

MG Motors will launch the all-new Hector in the Indian market in the Indian market next month. Before that, the all-new car has been revealed officially by MG Motors. MG will start taking the bookings for the all-new car in June 2019. Before that, all the MG’s dealerships in India will put the car on display and customers can check out the vehicle before making the booking. MG Motors has around 120 dealerships spread across 50 cities in India. However, by September, the brand plans to reach the 250 outlets.

The MG Hector will become the biggest car by dimensions in the segment when it is launched in the market next month. The imposing look of the Hector comprises of a huge grille and sleek LED DRL that form an extended part of the grille itself. The high beam, low beam and the fog lamps are positioned lower in the bumper and the top-end variant of the car also gets LED projector headlamps. Also, MG has used a lot of chrome and silver inserts in the car. There is a huge silver skid plate insert in the front while the rear also gets a chunky looking silver insert in the bumper with integrated exhaust tips. The MG Hector gets plastic cladding all around that shrouds the bumper, wheel arches and the side body of the vehicle. The windows get a tapered look and there is a chrome strip underlining the windows too. The MG Hector also gets a roof-mounted rear spoiler and shark-fin antenna. All the variants of the vehicle will get the LED tail lamps.

The Hector will get a long list of features too. To start with, it will get the Artificial Intelligence-powered infotainment system with an eSIM that keeps the vehicle connected to the Internet all the time. This allows the vehicle to stream music, get system updates and also track the vehicle and control it remotely through a smartphone. On the inside, it gets a 10.8-inch vertically-mounted screen on the dashboard while the driver cluster gets a 7.0-inch LCD display too.

Other features of the MG Hector includes a panoramic sunroof, 360-degree view camera, 17-inch alloy wheels, all-LED lamps inside, cruise control, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, 8-speaker system and more such advanced features. The MG Hector will come quite loaded with safety features too. The SUV gets ABS+EBD, rear parking sensors, rear parking camera, front parking sensors, TCS, Brake Assist, Hill Climb Control, 6-airbags and ISOFIX mounts for child seats.

Engine-wise, the MG Hector will get powered by both petrol and diesel engine options. There will be a 1.5-litre petrol engine that will produce a maximum power of 143 PS and 250 Nm of peak torque. The diesel engine will be the 2.0-litre Multijet unit that produces a maximum of 170 PS and 350 Nm of peak torque. MG will also offer a 48V hybrid system as an optional feature with the petrol variants. Also, the petrol variants also get 7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission as an option.
