MG ZS EV is all-set to get a facelift in the coming months in India. The new electric vehicle will now look much similar to the MG Astor but there are will be a few design highlights setting it apart from the standard petrol model. With the facelift, MG will also offer a longer range.
Apart from the usual exterior changes, the MG ZS EV facelift will offer a longer range. MG will use a bigger battery pack that will allow the electric SUV to travel further on a single charger. MG will use a bigger 51 kWh unit as per ACI. Currently, the car gets the 44.5 kWh battery pack with a revised range of 419 km.
MG is yet to announce any official range figures at the moment. However, with the larger battery pack, we can expect the range to reach close to 500 km on a single charge.
Interestingly, the MG ZS EV facelift with a bigger battery will arrive around the same time as the Tata Nexon EV long range. However, Tata Nexon will get a 40 kWh battery pack.
MG ZS EV to look more like Astor
As the ZS EV is based on the Astor, the facelift model will carry many changes that will make it look like the newly launched mid-size SUV from the brand. However, there will be many changes that will make both the versions – ICE and EV make look very different from each other.
The updated MG ZS EV was revealed in the global markets last year. The update gets new slimmer headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lamps (DRLs) and LED tail lamps as well.
MG has added a different looking front and rear bumper and there are a few other details that make the EV variant look sportier than before. The grille is blanked-off to replace the traditional grille and there is a charging port behind it.
MG ZS EV facelift to offer more features
While there are quite a few changes on the outside, the changes inside the cabin will remain limited to colour updates and a few trim differences. However, MG will add a few features from the all-new Astor.
The new MG ZS EV is likely to offer a wireless phone charger, an all-digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch infotainment screen upgraded from the 8.0-inch unit. MG may not offer the ADAS Level-2 features with the ZS EV as it can add to the overall cost and can affect the range of the car as well.
