Elelctric vehicles are slowly gaining popularity in India. In the past couple of years, we have seen the launch of several electric cars and two wheelers. Many existing and new vehicle manufacturers have entered this segment as this segment is going to be the future of mobility. We currently have Tata Nexon EV, Hyundai Kona EV and MG ZS EV in the affordable electric SUV segment. MG ZS EV has been in the market for over an year and now ownership reviews regarding the same have started surfacing online. Here we have one such ownership review of ZS EV after 25,000 kms.
The video has been uploaded by PluginIndia Electric Vehicles on their YouTube channel. The owner of the MG ZS Mangesh Jadhav purchased this electric SUV last year and is pretty happy with the product. When he was planning to buy an electric SUV, his priority was range. He wanted a car that can offer at least 300 kms of range. He was not sure whether Nexon EV will offer him the desired range in real life driving conditions. Next option was Hyundai EV and Mangesh mentions that he was not a big fan of the overall design of the SUV. MG ZS EV offered decent looks and features while not compromising on the range part.

He then shows the charging setup that he has installed at his parking lot. He also shares that he carries the portable AC charger which can be used to charge the car from a regular power plug in case of an emergency. Owner then mentions that he likes the connected car features in the car which lets him keep a track about the battery percentage and also the health of the car. The car also offers features that allows the owner to turn on the AC in the car, before he arrives.
He also likes the voice command feature, panoramic sunroof, inbuilt navigation and many other features. When he initially drove the ZS EV, he felt the suspension setup was too stiff. It was done to improve the handling character of the car but, this meant the ride quality was not the best. The owner mentioned that he improved the ride quality by installing aftermarket suspension set up.
He has been using the MG ZS SUV for a long time and he mentions that he has been getting driving range of over 300 kms if he drives it normally. If he is driving the car a tad bit enthusiastically the range comes down to 272 kms range. He has already done 4 services and is not as expensive as the ICE car. There are things that he wishes could have been improved in the ZS EV. One of them is the AC. ZS EV does not get automatic climate control. The owner has to manually turn off the AC to squeeze maximum range out of the car. The other problem was the suspension which he already got resolved.
He really liked the driving modes and says even when the battery percentage is low, one doesn’t have to compromise on the power of other features like AC unlike some low range EVs. Overall, the owner is very happy with the experience of owning the MG ZS EV.
