Morris Garages updated India’s first-ever electric SUV – the ZS EV and launched the 2022 model in March of this year. The brand launched the facelifted version of the ZS EV at a price tag of Rs 22 lakh, ex-showroom. The changes on the newest iteration included a revamped front fascia comprising of a closed grille, that now came with the charging port on the left side of the MG logo on the grille itself. The all-LED headlamps with sharper daytime running LEDs, a new bumper with chrome inserts across its width at the bottom, and a set of new 17-inch machined alloy wheels with an updated five-spoke design were some of the few more changes.

With the makeover, the MG ZS EV’s cabin underwent significant revision as well and now resembles that of the Astor. MG went for an all-black motif with contrast silver inlays for the ZS EV. The MG ZS EV now boasts a broader list of features. In addition to a wireless charger, a 360-degree parking camera, heated exterior rearview mirrors, a 7-inch full-TFT instrument dashboard, powered front seats, and an electronic parking brake, it now has all of these features.

Panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery, 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, automated climate control, push start-stop button, and PM 2.5 in-cabin air purifier are additional amenities that enhance the MG ZS EV’s entire package.

A long list of safety features is included in the vehicle as well, including six airbags, ABS with EBD, parking sensors, electronic stability programme, hill descent control, hill hold assistance, auto headlamps, and rain-sensing wipers, blind-spot detection, lane change assistance, and rear cross-traffic alert. But the MG Astor has the complete Level-2 ADAS and AI-assisted talking robot, which it lacks.

A larger 50.3 kWh lithium-ion battery was added to the MG ZS EV with this facelift, giving it a 461 km maximum driving range (as claimed by the WLTP cycle). Even the electric motor that powers it is brand-new and now has an output peak torque of 280 Nm and a maximum power output of 173 horsepower. The MG ZS EV was introduced in a single fully-loaded Exclusive model and costs Rs 21.99 lakh. And following the launch of the new 2022 model the company made an announcement that within a few days after its official debut in India, the new ZS EV got sold out for 2022.
