The company’s main focus is to concentrate on successfully establishing the MINI brand in India, Andreas Schaaf, President of the BMW group in India said in a press statement.
The MINI Cooper is a five seater hatchback. The MINI Cooper has a perfect blend of classic and modern design. The large, round-shaped headlamps and fog lamps are designs evolved from the classic MINI design.
The side profile of the car flaunts flared wheel arches, blacked out A, B and C pillars and attractive 15-inch alloy wheels that give it a sporty look. The Cooper’s rear accentuates the car’s width and the bulges on the boot door make it broad in appearance. The interiors are made of high quality materials. Fit and finish is top notch. The dashboard has circles all around and has a retro-themed large speedometer dial mounted at the centre.
The MINI Cooper hatchback is powered by a 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine producing 122 hp of maximum power and 160 Nm of maximum torque. For buyers looking for a more powerful Cooper, MINI offers the Cooper S for its turbo-charged 1-6-litre petrol engine puts out 184 bhp of power and 240 Nm of maximum torque. Both the engines are mated to 6-speed automatic transmission.
The MINI Cooper is priced at Rs. 25.50 lakh while the Cooper S is priced at Rs. 28.60 lakh. The convertible version of the Cooper is priced at Rs. 30.70 lakh.
The MINI Countryman is a beefed up Cooper with similar interiors but larger dimensions and higher ground clearance. The MINI Countryman is the only MINI to have five doors.
The front grille of the Countryman is quite steep and has large cross mesh giving the rugged looks. The heavily flared wheel arches and blackened out pillars along with the dual tone color combination for the body and roof, makes the Countryman, a very unique SUV.
The Countryman is powered by the same 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine that puts out 184 bhp of power and 240 Nm of torque as in the Cooper S. The Countryman is priced at Rs. 32.80 lakh while the Countryman S High is priced at Rs. 35.90 lakh.
