Mitsusbishi has launched a limited edition variant of the Pajero Sport luxury SUV in India. The limited edition Pajero Sport is available with choices of two paint jobs, red and white, and yellow and white. These paint jobs, which were also offered on the old-school Pajero SFX, are designed to evoke a strong sense of nostalgia among Pajero Sport owners, Mitsubishi SUV fans and prospective new buyers alike.

On the outside, the other features gained by the Pajero Sport’s Limited Edition variant include turn indicators mounted on wing mirrors and Limited Edition badging. The SUV is priced at 23.99 lakh rupees ex-showroom Delhi, which is a near 50,000 rupee premium above the price of the regular variant. On the inside, Mitsubishi has added DVD playback on the infotainment module, along with two screens placed behind the front seat backs, serving as entertainment options for the rear seat passengers.

The additional features on the limited edition avriant are rounded off by a chiller placed in the boot. Apart from the detailing changes and feature additions, the Pajero Sport SUV remains bog similar to the regular variant in terms of its mechanicals. A 2.5 liter-4 cylinder turbo diesel engine that churns out 175 Bhp-400 Nm is standard fare, and torque transmission is handled by a 5 speed manual gearbox.

While the default drive on the SUV is through the rear wheels, the Pajero Sport comes with an on-demand four wheel drive system equipped with a knob operated, shift-on-the-fly Borg Warner transfer case. The four wheel drive system on the Pajero Sport features low and high ratios. Mitsubishi does have plans of launching an automatic gearbox equipped Pajero Sport SUV variant, whose launch was slated to happen during this year’s festive season.
While the automatic variant of the Pajero Sport has already passed the mandatory homologation requirement at the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), on when exactly the new variant of the SUV will be launched here is something that only Mitsubishi can throw light upon. The Pajero Sport is assembled at Hindustan Motors’ Tiruvallur assembly unit from CKD kits imported from Thailand. The SUV is the solitary product that Mitsubishi’s sells in India.
