Modified Mahindra Scorpio SUVs – From the Tasteful to the Obnoxious

Snapshot – The Scorpio SUV has been one of Mahindra’s biggest successes over the last decade or so, along with the likes of the Bolero and the XUV500. Lorry loads of Scorpios finding homes in India and abroad has meant that a few of them have taken the after market custom route. Some have come out as tasteful looking while others have hit the obnoxious button. Today, we take you through a raft of modified Mahindra Scorpio SUV, from the tasteful to the obnoxious and everything in between. Let’s kick things off with the tastefully done up Scorpios.

Sarbloh Motors Mahindra Scorpio Facelift Custom

The facelifted Mahindra Scorpio has been given the expedition vehicle treatment by Jaskirat Nagra’s Sarbloh Customs. The result is a four wheel drive SUV that can take you to Ladakh and back comfortable, even serving as home and hearth throughout the joruney. This Scorpio Custom is perhaps the first facelifted version to have gone along the expedition vehicle route. Tasteful? Hell yes!

Kishan Lohiya’s Mahindra Scorpio Custom

The Mahindra Scorpio always had a menacing look. Kishan Lohiya of Hyderabad has just added a few layers of armour to all that menace. The result is this highly customized version of the Scorpio, which sees a completely revamped front end. An Indian Hummer of sorts, this modified Scorpio with massive wheels, a twin cab pick up truck body style and all that additional width makes a stock version of the SUV looks puny.

 

Mahindra Scorpio 4WD Custom

Four wheel drive Scorpio LX variants are meant for the enthusiasts, and find few takers. The few who choose this variant prefer to do up their rides classily, like this example here. With a metal front bumper, yummy looking GT alloy wheel and auxiliary lamps up front, this Scorpio LX 4X4 is a lesson is ‘minimum is maximum’. The running boards have been dispensed with, in keeping with the overall thrust on minimalism.

Though Mahindra offers a 4X4 transfer case on the Scorpio, the SUV isn’t a hard core off roader in the vein of the Thar. In fact, the independent front suspension on the Scorpio is its bugbear as far as hard core off roading goes. Yet, some enthusiasts prefer taking the Scorpio off the road, and with modifications to suit. The example here uses a metal front bumper with an integrated bull bar, off road tyres, a snorkel and a lifted body.

Mahindra Scorpio Off Road Ready

Here’s another Mahindra Scorpio that is off road ready. This SUV gets the customary steel front bumper and a snorkel popping out of its hood, and highlighting its off road intentions. Along with these modifications, the other off road ready bits are the steel wheels that give the vehicle a nice heft and will allow it to take some abuse on difficult terrains.

Sarbloh Motors Scorpio Getaway Custom

Sarbloh Motor’s major effort in expedition vehicles came with the Scorpio Getaway twin cab pick up truck the outfit customized for actress Gul Panag. The vehicle is essentially a home one wheels, one that can take its occupants across the country during the day, and serve as a mobile home during the nights. Replete with a chemical toilet on board, this Scorpio Getaway is what you need to drive across the world.

Now that we’ve seen how rugged and muscular the Mahindra Scorpio can be made to look, let’s venture into obnoxious territory.

Stretch limousines are best served up in low slung sedans. This limousine rental company from India obviously doesn’t subscribe. So, you have this elongated Scorpio that exists to get raves and rants at social occassions, where you’ll usually find this Scorpio Limousine at.

Mahindra’s design team constantly produces ugly looking cars and SUVs. But what they build seems angelic in comparison to what Kit Up has done with this particular body kit for the Scorpio. We’ll let the images do the talking here.

Mahindra Scorpio Crazy Custom from Kerala

This is absolute mayhem on wheels. This Mahindra Scorpio custom from Kerala is an example of a custom job gone horribly wrong. This one can scare little kids silly. The design is so confused that you’ll have trouble to figure out from where exactly to start venting.
