Most exciting cars coming to 2023 Auto Expo: Maruti Baleno Cross to all-new Hyundai Verna

The Auto Expo 2023 is not witnessing as much number of participants as the previous editions of the event. However, the expo is all set to be a platform for the showcase of some of the most highly anticipated game-changers in the Indian auto industry. Following are some of the all-new cars set to make their Indian debuts at the Auto Expo 2023:

Maruti Suzuki Baleno Cross (YTB)

Based on the Baleno hatchback, the new Maruti Suzuki Baleno Cross (as it is called for the time being) will be a rugged-looking crossover. The Baleno Cross is said to have its front and rear end inspired by the Grand Vitara while sharing its interior and powertrain options with the Baleno hatchback with minor tweaks.

Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door

After much anticipation, Maruti Suzuki will be launching the Jimny in India, although in a five-door avatar. The new Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door will have a stretched wheelbase to accommodate two additional doors while falling under the sub-four-metre category. It will share its overall upright exterior, neo-retro interior and powertrain options with the three-door model.

Tata Punch EV

Tata will showcase the all-electric version of the Punch micro-SUV. Like other EVs from Tata Motors based on existing offerings, the new Tata Punch EV will also share its design with the petrol-powered Punch, though with contrasting blue highlights. The Punch EV is expected to share its powertrain, including motor and battery, with the Nexon EV Prime.

Hyundai Verna

Hyundai will be bringing the heavily updated fourth-generation Verna, which will be bigger than the outgoing Verna in every sense. It will also be much flashier with the new-generation sensuous sportiness design language while having a more feature-rich and modern cabin on the inside. However, it will retain the set of powertrain options from the current third-gen version.

Hyundai Creta facelift

Hyundai will also showcase the facelifted version of the second-generation Creta, which has already been launched in other global markets. With a Tucson-inspired front fascia sporting a parametric grille and new split headlamps and a mildly revised rear profile, the new Creta will also get a few new features. However, the current set of petrol and diesel engines will be retained in the facelift.

Kia Sorento

Kia has already imported a unit of the new-generation Sorento to India to showcase it at the Auto Expo 2023. While it is not in the immediate launch plans of Kia for India, the Korean car maker might come to a conclusion after gauging public interest. The Kia Sorento is a three-row monocoque SUV which takes on the SUVs like Skoda Kodiaq and Jeep Meridian.

MG Air EV

In a very interesting move, MG will be showcasing the two-door micro electric vehicle, which is touted to be called Air EV. MG has already been testing the Air EV in India with the intention of launching it here as a compact electric mobility solution for urban car buyers. It will come as the most affordable electric vehicle from MG in India.

Kia Carnival

The current-generation Kia Carnival has gathered a lot of attention in the Indian market. Next year, during the Auto Expo, Kia will showcase the all-new fourth-generation model of the luxurious MPV.

Kia Seltos facelift

Kia will also showcase the tweaked version of the Seltos, which has already gone on sale in the global markets. The new facelifted Kia Seltos, which gets revised front and rear profiles, a new cabin and a fresher set of features, will be officially launched before the festive season of 2023. However, like the Creta facelift, the Seltos facelift will also retain its current powertrain options.

Renault Arkana

Since the discontinuation of Captur, Renault has been absent from the midsize SUV segment, which might change with the arrival of Arkana. The Renault Arkana is a coupe-styled SUV, which might come in as a distinctive offering among the conventional midsize SUVs in India. Renault will showcase the Arkana at the Auto Expo 2023 with a mild-hybrid powertrain.

Tata Harrier facelift

The Tata Harrier facelift is already undergoing trial runs, and Tata Motors might showcase the finalized product at the Auto Expo 2023. The new Harrier facelift is expected to get tweaks to the exterior and a longer list of features, including ADAS. However, it will continue to be a diesel-only SUV with the current 2.0-litre diesel engine retained in the new version.
