Billionaire Stock Broker Motilal Oswal buys Tata Safari Dark Edition

A big business tycoon rarely prefers a humble mass-market-oriented car or SUV over a much more expensive luxury vehicle. People in India perceive cars as status symbols, but some high-profile businessmen do not prefer to be in the race to prove their worth to others through their daily rides. Motilal Oswal, the owner of Motilal Oswal Financial Services Limited, thinks the same, for he opted for a relatively humbler Tata Safari Dark Edition as his new ride.
Motilal Oswal Financial Services Limited is a big name in the business circuits of India, serving a range of financial products and services, and is one of the oldest brands in stock trading in the country. The owner of the country, Mr Motilal Oswal, recently bought a brand new Tata Safari Dark Edition as his new car. A Mumbai-based automobile solution company named “The Auto Lounge India” recently posted a few pictures on its social media handles, in which Motilal Oswal is seen taking the delivery of his new Tata Safari at his residence.
In the three pictures shared by The Auto Lounge India, Motilal Oswal is seen posing in front of his new acquisition on wheels, with him also receiving a bouquet from the sales representative who came to deliver the SUV to him. The Tata Safari Dark Edition in the pictures seems to be based on the range-topping Accomplished Plus variant. Given the preferences given to automatic variants by most businessmen, it looks like Motilal Oswal went for the automatic version of the Tata Safari Accomplished Plus Dark Edition.
Priced at Rs 27.24 lakh, this variant of the Tata Safari is the most expensive one in the lineup. On the outside, the exterior of the Tata Safari Dark Edition is painted in Oberon Black paint shade, while also having a blacked-out theme for the grille, headlamps, tail lamps and 19-inch alloy wheels. The cabin of the Tata Safari Dark Edition also comes with an all-black theme with black leather upholstery and gloss black touches.
This Tata Safari variant comes loaded to the gills with all the bells and whistles. On the inside, the Safari Dark Edition gets a 10.25-inch full-TFT instrument console, 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, panoramic sunroof, electronically-adjustable and ventilated front seats, wireless charger, 10-speaker JBL audio system, dual-zone automatic climate control with rear AC vents, ambient lighting, air purifier and more. It is also the only variant of the Safari lineup to get level-2 ADAS while getting a 2.0-litre 170 PS diesel engine like the rest of the variants.
Last year, the new Harrier and Safari vehicles underwent testing by Global NCAP, an independent crash test agency based in Germany. Both vehicles received a 5-star rating, indicating their excellent safety performance during the crash tests. It is worth noting that these tests were conducted in India.
Bharat NCAP, a safety program initiated by the Central Government of India, was introduced in August 2023. The primary objective of this program is to evaluate the safety of passenger cars sold in the country through rigorous crash tests. The intention behind Bharat NCAP is to provide standardized safety ratings for vehicles in the Indian automotive market.
As a result of the implementation of Bharat NCAP, Global NCAP has made the decision to discontinue its “Safer Cars for India” initiative. This means that Global NCAP will no longer conduct crash tests specifically for cars manufactured in India. The introduction of Bharat NCAP ensures that the safety standards of cars in India are being assessed and rated appropriately.
