Fiat India has launched the Linea T-Jet petrol sedan priced at Rs. 8.56 lakhs for the base variant and Rs. 9.06 lakhs for the top-end Jet Plus model. The T-Jet sports a more powerful engine and was meant to overcome the regular Linea’s power lag and ground clearance problems.
The T-Jet makes the Linea and attractive option for those who were smitten by the Linea’s design but were not too happy with its performance. It is a comfortable, spacious and affordable sedan which provides a comfortable ride.
The Linea competes with cars like the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Ford Fiesta, Maruti Suzuki Sx4, Volkswagen Vento etc.

Look, space and comfort
So what’s new on the Fiat Linea? The T-Jet model gets chrome exhaust tip and “T-Jet” badges on the front grille and the rear boot lid. It now comes with increased ground clearance (170 mm), 16-inch alloy wheels, 205 section wider tyres and disc brakes on all four wheels. Also, it’s now offered in 8 new colors, including a stunning Sunbeam Beige shade. Oh, and there’s also a new roof antenna.
The top variant Linea T-Jet Plus has leather seats, probably imported ones. The dashboard and inside door handles are chromed. It also has improved sound insulation for quieter rides. In terms of looks the Linea easily takes the cake and has an edge over most of its competition. In terms of space and comfort the Linea is comparable to some of the best in the segment, like the Volkswagen Vento and Ford Fiesta.
The Fiat Linea T-Jet is powered by a 1.4-litre petrol engine that is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The turbocharged petrol mill, a first in the segment, produces peak power of 113 bhp at 5,000 rpm and peak torque of 198 Nm at 2,500 rpm.
That’s a significant boost from the earlier Linea model that pumped out just 89 bhp of peak power! In terms of performance, the Linea T-Jet will take just 11.14 seconds to go from o-100 kmph. Top speed is rated at 200 kmph and ARAI tests put the Linea T-Jets mileage at 14.6 kmpl. However, in terms of outright performance the Honda City still is a better handler and the Fiesta too has impressive road manners.
Price and features
Apart from what the regular Linea got the T-Jet gets a new improved AC, improved ride quality with bigger wheels and wider tyres. The Linea has premium imported leather upholstery, premium chrome accent and soft touch interiors. It also gets an exclusive new body color – sunbeam beige.
Other important features include ABS with EBD, front and rear fog lamps, power steering with tilt,
Tachometer, climate control, rear AC vent, central locking, and single CD music system with an i-pod dock steering mounted audio controls etc. The Linea is pretty loaded with features but some of its competition like the Verna and Fiesta manage to better it with more gizmos.
