Mukesh Ambani’s next car: The 25 crore rupee W222 Mercedes Maybach S600 Pullman Guard

Billionaire Indian industrialist Mukesh Ambani will soon upgrade to a W222 Mercedes Maybach S600 Pullman Guard limousine. The high-security car is based on the latest generation W222 S-Class. Presently, Mukesh Ambani is driven around in a previous generation S-Class Guard. Guard here, stands for the high-security bulletproof version of the car. The Guard version of cars that Mercedes Benz sells are heavily armored and therefore much heavier than regular cars. They are also many times more expensive than the regular versions.

The latest version of the S600 Mercedes Maybach S600 Pullman Guard weighs a whopping 5.1 tons. The car is capable of withstanding 7.62 X 51 mm bullet rounds from a range of automatic weapons such as the M60, M12 and FN-FAL guns.

The car also has bulletproof steel that is embedded between the body structure and the outer skin. This will ensure that even splinters from bomb blasts don’t penetrate the car. The floor of the car is also reinforced to withstand explosions including land mine blasts. It runs on runflat tyres.

On the inside, the car is extremely luxurious and save for the extra weight on the doors and body of the car, and the much thicker windows, most people will not be able to differentiate the W222 Mercedes Maybach S600 Pullman Guard from the regular Pullman limousine. The rear seat passengers will have acres of legroom to stretch out. Luxurious leather has been used lavishly on the interiors, which also gets an entertainment package and a privacy screen for the rear seat passengers.

The car is powered by a 6.0 liter twin turbocharger equipped V12 petrol engine. This engine produces a peak power of 530 Bhp while the peak torque of 830 Nm is produced right from 1,900 rpm. A 7 speed automatic gearbox is standard while the car uses an all wheel drive system to put down power and ensure maximum grip in all conditions. Mercedes has limited the top-speed of the car to 160 Kph for maximum safety, and stability. The car features a lot of safety equipment such as airbags, traction control, etc. The car is priced at 1.4 million Euros in Germany, which is about 10.5 crores. In India, after import duty and taxes, the car is expected to cost about 25 crore rupees.
