Ford might have left the Indian market for the time being after stopping local production of its vehicles. However, the American carmaker will come back after a short hiatus by bringing in a range of CBU products. Out of these products, the Mustang GT has already been confirmed, which will arrive in India in the latest global-spec facelifted version.

The pre-facelift version of the Ford Mustang has launched in India a few years ago, which did find a lot of takers in the country. One such proud owner of the Ford Mustang is the ‘golden boy’ of the Indian sports fraternity, Neeraj Chopra.

Neeraj Chopra needs no introduction now, for the Olympian has won a gold medal in Javelin Throw at the Tokyo Olympics 2021. The ace sportsperson has got a few exotic cars, out of which his Ford Mustang stands out the most. In a YouTube video uploaded by ‘Rajni Chaudhary’, we can see a proper 360-degree view of the blue-coloured Ford Mustang owned by Neeraj Chopra.

The Mustang owned by Chopra gets a stunning-looking blue-coloured wrap job, with wide and split racing stripes starting from the middle of the bonnet to the edge of the boot lid at the back. The 19-inch alloy wheels are also painted in black, behind which we can see red coloured callipers for the disc brakes. There are no modifications to the projector headlamps and the iconic tri-bar LED tail lamps of the Mustang. However, the car here gets premium after-market Borla exhaust pipes.

On the inside, we can see that the Ford Mustang here is retained in its original form, with no modifications carried out for the cabin. The dual-tone black and white upholstery of the Mustang looks appealing. It is the stock version of the Mustang with no added equipment, with the car getting features like leather upholstery, powered front seats, multi-functional steering wheel, cruise control, touchscreen infotainment system, dual-zone automatic climate control and more.

In the pre-facelifted Ford Mustang GT, like the one we see here, the only powertrain option made available for the Indian market was a 5.0-litre naturally aspirated V8 engine. Coupled with a 6-speed automatic gearbox, the engine produces a maximum power output of 400 PS and a peak torque output of 515 Nm.

Ford Mustang is not available in India anymore

The facelifted version of the Ford Mustang GT is already on sale in all the chief markets and will soon be launched in India as a direct import. The new version gets a sleeker front fascia, a revised instrument console with TFT display, Android Auto and Apple Carplay compatibility for the infotainment system and a couple of more features. While there are no changes to the 5.0-litre V8 engine, there is a new transmission unit in the form of a 10-speed automatic gearbox. The new gearbox makes the engine respond quicker, thus enhancing its overall performance.

Ford terminated its local production in India in September 2021, which ceased the sales of its mass-market models like Figo, Aspire, Freestyle, Ecosport and Endeavour. However, the carmaker will start a new inning, in which we will see its global models brought here as CBU imports. Ford has already confirmed the Mustang GT and Mustang Mach-E for the Indian car market, which will be followed by other globally renowned models.
