The Honda City is all set to get a make over for both the international as well as the Indian audiences. While the vehicle hasn’t officially been unveiled yet, a lot of images have surfaced on the internet showing what the new model will look like.
Since a facelift has to come with some visual updates, this one too has gotten a minor upgrade in that department. What you now have is an all-new headlamp cluster with LED DRLs. The top of the line model also sports full LED headlamps, something which would be segment first, when it is introduced in India.
In addition to that, there is an all-new grill up front which has a more prominent chrome strip and looks inspired from the lastest generation Civic. The bumper has received a minor update as well. The side profile doesn’t get any change, save for the new set of alloy wheels on offer. At the back, there is a new tail lamp cluster on the top of the line variant, a new bumper and a rear deck lid spoiler which houses the stop lamp.
From the pictures that we have received, there doesn’t seem to be much change on the inside. The car continues to get a touch screen infotainment system and a touch screen climate control unit, like the current one has. There maybe provision for Apple Car Play and Android Auto, but the same hasn’t been confirmed yet
India will continue to get the same engines that currently do duty on the City. The petrol will be the 1.5 liter i-VTEC unit which produces 118 Bhp and 145 Nm. The diesel will be the 1.5 liter Earth Dreams unit makes 99 Bhp and 200 Nm. While the petrol comes with either a manual or an automatic option where as the diesel only comes with a manual.
The vehicle has already been spied in India which means that the lanch is expected to happen in the first quarter of 2017.
The City has enjoyed being on top of the throne for a really long time. However, since the Ciaz has come along, it has been giving the City sleepless nights. The Ciaz is currently on top in this segment and Honda is working on getting back on top. While the Verna was popular previously, it has begun showing its age now. An all-new Verna is being worked upon and it will be coming our way by the end of the year which should heat things up.
