It features a new 160cc, four-stroke engine that’s air cooled. The engine uses a four-valve head and makes 16.8 PS of peak power at 8,000 rpm (FI) and 16.5 PS of peak power at 8,000 rpm on the carbureted model. A peak torque of 14.8 Nm at 6,500 rpm remains the same on both variants. The Apache RTR 160 gets a 5-speed manual gearbox, a standard fixture in this segment.

The motorcycle has a best-in-class power to weight ratio, giving the FI model an acceleration time of 4.8 seconds for the 0-60 Kph run while the carbed model achieves the same in an even faster 4.73 seconds. However, the FI version is slightly faster, with a 114 Kph top speed, compared to 113 Kph of the carbed model. The Apache RTR 160 uses telescopic front forks, and a monoshock rear shock absorber.

Disc brakes are standard on both wheels of the FI version while the carbed version uses a disc brake only on the front. The rear wheel gets a drum brake. Alloy wheels shod with tubeless tires are standard on both the variants. The instrument cluster is a fully digital unit, and the motorcycle gets three paint schemes – Red, Blue and Black. The motorcycle uses a racetrack-derived double cradle frame with extra stiffness for better handling.

Commenting on the launch, Sudarshan Venu, the joint managing director of TVS Motors said,”The TVS Apache series has always embodied pure racing performance. This Racing DNA is seen across the entire range from RTR 160 to the RR 310. With the launch of the all new TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, we have created an exciting product that will appeal to customers around the world.”
