The City has always been one of the signature products of Honda. The C-segment sedan has been one of the best selling models in its category for long, though it was overtaken by the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz sometime back. Honda recently made an addition in the City lineup by launching the new ZX MT petrol petrol variant. The ZX is the top trim level in the City and prior to this, there was a petrol automatic and diesel manual available in the same trim. The video below by Team Car Delight explores the 2019 Honda City ZX in a walk around video style review. Let’s now check it out to see what all changes have been made on the 2019 version.
Honda had also launched two new colour options for the city, which are- red and silver. In Honda’s language, they are ‘Radiant Red Metallic’ and ‘Lunar Silver Metallic’ shades. Also, the car now gets rear parking sensors as standards, in lieu with the upcoming government safety norms. Talking about exterior design, the City is pretty much a looker with LED headlamps with daytime running lights (DRL), LED taillights along with license plate lamps. The big chrome slab across the front grille looks good too. Overall, it gets a pretty well balanced profile and is among the better looking cars of its segment.
Talking of interiors and features, the City ZX is pretty well equipped car. It comes with six airbags, electric sunroof with one-touch open/close function, touchscreen infotainment system, auto headlights, rain sensing wipers and diamond-cut 16-inch alloy wheels. The interiors carry a beige theme and the seats gets leather upholstery. The multi-function steering wheel is quite well weighted and feels pretty good to to hold. The dashboard gets silver accents and is otherwise done in black.
There are no mechanical changes made on the car and it gets powered by the same engines as before. The 1.5-litre, four-cylinder petrol, engine churns out 117 Bhp of power along with 145 Nm of torque. The diesel unit, on the other hand is a 1.5 litre unit that pumps out 99 Bhp of power along with 200 Nm of torque. Apart from the new new slick-shifting 5-speed manual introduced on the petrol, it also gets a CVT transmission option. The diesel though only makes do with the 5 speed manual gearbox. The diesel engine offers an impressive ARAI certified fuel efficiency score of 25.6 km/l while the petrol engine has a score of 16 km/l.
The Honda City ZX costs Rs. 12.75 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the petrol manual variant and Rs. 14.05 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the CVT petrol variant. The diesel manual, on the other hand, carries a price tag of Rs. 14.05 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). With the manual gearboxes slowly disappearing in the top trims of many cars, it is good to see that Honda is still catering to the enthusiasts.
