Ford launched the much-awaited Figo Aspire sedan yesterday in the market. Even though the Aspire is based on the Figo hatchback, the updated version of the hatchback is yet to be launched in the market. The new Aspire gets a range of visual updates that keep it fresh in the market. As per a report, Ford will launch the updated Figo hatchback in 2019.
In the international markets, the Figo hatchback has been updated with the latest updates. However, it is not as popular in the Indian market, which is causing the delay in the launch. As the Aspire is based on the Figo hatchback, they both get the distinctly similar face. The Figo hatchback will carry the same changes as the Figo Aspire in terms of the visual updates. The mechanicals will remain similar to the current version of the model too.
The Ford Figo hatchback takes on the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Swift and the Hyundai Grand i10 in the Indian market. The hatchback offers great handling and is liked by many enthusiasts but the sales figure is not anywhere close to the best-sellers in the segment. It is possible that Ford will wait for the festive season to pass and will launch the new hatchback in early 2019. This will allow the car sales figure to settle down. In last month, the Maruti Suzuki Swift became the best-selling car in the Indian market, surpassing all the other cars.
The Ford Figo facelift will get a similar design update as the Aspire sedan. It will get the new grille, new bumpers and the bigger 15-inch alloy wheels. The feature list will also be updated similar to the updated Aspire. The upcoming Figo will get updated with features like rain-sensing wipers, auto headlamps, climate control, a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with SYNC 3 connectivity.
The engines of the Figo will remain similar to the Aspire. There will be two petrol engines and a diesel engine in the line-up. Ford introduced the 1.2-litre three-cylinder Dragon series engine with the Freestyle, the same will be available with the Figo when it is launched in India. The other two engines – 1.5-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel will remain the same as the current version of the hatchback.
