New Hyundai Creta imagined as a pick-up truck

Hyundai Creta is the most successful mid-size SUV in the Indian market since it was first introduced. While the manufacturer currently does not have any pick-up trucks in the Indian market. Here, we have a render of the Creta that has been imagined as a pick-up truck.

The rendering has been done by KDesign. His imagination of the Creta as a pick-up truck actually does look quite good even if Hyundai themselves do not have any plans on making one.

The front of the pick-up truck is identical to the one found on regular Creta. So, there are C-shaped LED Daytime Running Lamps with LED headlamps. There is Hyundai’s cascading grille in the centre. There is a slim faux skidplate finished in silver. The turn indicators and the fog lamps are positioned in the lower half of the bumper.

At the side profile, you will see some differences like a reflector on the front wheel arch different outside rearview mirrors. There are also different 5-spoke diamond-cut alloy wheels.

It is after C-pillar where the changes start to become prominent. There is a proper pick-up truck bed to store your stuff. There are two high mounted brake lights one is placed on the tailgate of the bed while the other one is placed on the window behind the rear passenger compartment.

There are an entirely new set of LED tail lamps placed on the tailgate of the bed. There is a door handle placed on the tailgate to open it up. ‘CRETA’ is spelt up across the tailgate and the LED tail lamps are also split into two pieced. The bumper is a chunky black unit that houses a rear slim fog light and reverses light.

Only Isuzu has managed to breach the lifestyle pick-up truck market in India. Mahindra tried with the Scorpio Getaway and Tata tried with the Xenon but both of them were unsuccessful and were not able to gather good sales. Isuzu on the other hand has just released the BS6 line-up of their vehicles which include new V-Cross lifestyle pick-up trucks.

Hyundai Creta on the other hand is still the best selling mid-size SUV in the Indian market. In fact, it sells more units than other compact SUVs, which are much more affordable.

The Creta recently got an update in their variants. The base variant loses out on turn indicators that are mounted on the outside rearview mirrors and also electric adjustment. Because of this, the turn indicators will be repositioned to the front fenders. It will also now not offer a luggage lamp and passenger seat back pocket.

Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay will be added to the mid-level EX and S variant. The SX and SX(O) variants get the most updates in terms of over the air updates for maps and the remote engine starts with a smart key which will be available with both manual and automatic transmissions. It will also come with a soft paint finish on the dashboard. This should help in giving an up-market feel to the cabin. There will also be some new voice commands and welcome greetings that Hyundai will add.
