New Hyundai i-Gen i20: Understanding the variants and prices across five major cities

Hyundai launched the new i20 on March 28^th, 2012. Here we will try to understand the different variants and take a look at the prices of the new i20 across five major Indian cities.

The new i20 is offered in three engine options: the 1.2-litre petrol, the 1.4-litre diesel and the 1.4-litre petrol. The 1.2-litre petrol motor mated to 5-speed manual transmission puts out 84 bhp, the 1.4-litre petrol motor mated to 5-speed automatic transmission puts out 98 bhp of power while the 1.4-litre diesel motor mated to 6-speed manual transmission makes 89 bhp of power and 219 Nm of torque. The ARAI-certified mileage of the 1.2-liter petrol version is 18.5 kmpl; 1.4-litre petrol version is 15 kmpl while that of the 1.4-litre diesel version is 21.9 kmpl.

i20 Era 1.2 petrol (Rs.4.73 lakh) and i20 Era 1.4 diesel (Rs.5.96 lakh)

The i20 Era variant gets central locking, immobilizer, front speakers and two tweeters but lacks power windows, music system and rear power windows. The following are the features offered in the i20 Era variant.

i20 Magna 1.2 petrol (Rs.4.97 lakh) and i20 Magna 1.4 diesel (Rs.6.20 lakh)

The i20 Magna has all the features of the Era variant and also gets cooling glovebox, all-four power windows with autodown and pinch guard feature, rear parcel tray and rear parking sensors.

i20 Magna (O) 1.2 petrol (Rs.5.27 lakh) and i20 Magna (O) 1.4 diesel (Rs.6.50 lakh)

The i20 Magna (O) has all the features of the Magna variant and in addition gets automatic climate control, clean air cluster ionizer, rear defogger, rear speakers and turn indicators on outside mirrors.

i20 Sportz 1.2 petrol (Rs.5.75 lakh), i20 Sportz 1.4 petrol AT (Rs. 7.67 lakh) and i20 Sportz 1.4 diesel (Rs.6.98 lakh)

The i20 Sportz gets all the features of the Magna (O) variant and in addition gets driver airbag, tilt & telescopic steering, Bluetooth connectivity, steering mounted audio & Bluetooth controls, alloy wheels and rear adjustable headrests.

i20 Asta 1.2 petrol (Rs.6.21 lakh) and i20 Asta 1.4 diesel (Rs.7.44 lakh)

The i20 Asta variant gets all the features of the Sportz variant and in addition, gets features such as  front passenger airbags, ABS with EBD, rear wiper & washer, front driver armrest and height adjustable driver seat.

i20 Asta (O) 1.2 petrol (Rs.6.65 lakh)

The i20 Asta (O) gets all the features of Asta variant and in addition gets side & curtain airbags and electric sunroof with slide & tilt function.
