New Hyundai Santro prices leaked: To be cheaper than Maruti WagonR?

A Hyundai dealer is said to have leaked the prices of the all-new Santro. Prices of the car will start from Rs. 3.87  lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi, making it cheaper than its key rival – the Maruti WagonR. Prices of the Maruti WagonR start from Rs. 4.31 lakhs. Hyundai has assured that the first 50,000 people who pre-book the car before the 23rd of October will have a special, introductory price.

South Korean automaker Hyundai will launch the new Santro on the 23rd of October, and pre-bookings for the car are already open at all Hyundai dealerships across the country. Here’s the variant-wise pricing of the new car, which  will be available with petrol and CNG-petrol dual fuel options.

• DLite: Rs. 3.87 Lakh
• Era: Rs. 4.12 Lakh
• Magna: Rs. 4.48 Lakh
• Magna AMT: Rs. 4.87 Lakh
• Sportz: Rs. 4.78 Lakh
• Sportz AMT: Rs. 5.20 Lakh
• Asta: Rs. 5.29 Lakh
• Magna CNG: Rs. 5.00 Lakh
• Sportz CNG: Rs. 5.35 Lakh

The petrol engine of the car is a 1.1 liter-4 cylinder unit – a carry over from the old i10, on whose platform the  new Santro is based on. This motor makes 69 PS of peak power and 99 Nm of peak torque when powered by petrol, making it more powerful than the Maruti WagonR, whose 1 liter-3 cylinder motor makes 67 Bhp-91 Nm.

While running on CNG, this motor will make 57 Bhp-77 Nm. The all-new Santro will get a 5 speed manual gearbox as  standard while a 5 speed automated manual transmission (AMT) will be offered as an option. The Santro will be the first Hyundai car to feature an AMT. A key feature about this AMT unit is that it gets electric actuators instead of mechanical actuators that’s the norm on other AMT cars sold in India including the Maruti WagonR.

The all-new Santro will get a driver airbag, ABS+EBD, speed alert system, seatbelt reminder, reverse parking sensors  and ISOFIX child seat provision across all variants. Higher variants will get the passenger airbag as a key safety  feature addition.

The all-new Santro will have many first-in-segment features. One such feature is the touchscreen infotainment system that will also get Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Another class leading feature is the rear AC blower, a feature that none of the all-new Hyundai Santro’s competitors presently offer.
