The new Hyundai Santro is just days away from being officially launched in India. The car will be launched on the 23rd of October, from when deliveries will also officially begin. The Santro has already begun reaching Hyundai dealerships across India. Here is an example in blue colour.
The car looks quite funky in Blue and this colour is likely to top pick among entry level hatchback buyers. The new Santro will be available with 6 other colours: Star Dust, Marina Blue, Fiery Red, Polar White, Typhoon Silver, Imperial Beige and Diana Green.
While the official prices of the new Hyundai Santro are yet to be revealed, word doing the rounds on the internet puts the starting price of the car at Rs. 3.87 lakhs, making it significantly cheaper than the best selling Maruti WagonR. The Maruti WagonR starts from around Rs. 4.2 lakhs.
The Santro will also be more powerful than the WagonR. It will use a 4 cylinder engine that makes 68 Bhp-99 Nm in petrol trim while the CNG-Petrol dual fuel will have the outputs detuned to 57 Bhp-77 Nm. The car will get a 5 speed manual gearbox as standard while a 5 speed AMT will be offered as an option.
The new Santro will pack in many other class leading features. The car’s AMT unit will have electric actuators, which are said to have a longer service life than mechanical actuators. As for class leading features on the inside, the car will offer rear AC vents and a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The Santro will get a driver airbag, ABS+EBD, reverse parking sensors, speed alert and seat belt reminder as standard safety features across the range. Higher trims will add a passenger airbag and a reverse parking camera. The car will be built at Hyundai’s Sriperumbudur factory off Chennai, and will also be exported to many emerging markets around the world.
