Mahindra and Mahindra launched the XUV500 facelift recently. The updated SUV comes with many styling updates, a more powerful engine, and some more features. What’s even more interesting is that the prices have gone down, thereby making the flagship Mahindra a great VFM option. The official video of the new XUV500 that you can see below highlights the new bits of the car. We also have our own walkaround video, which shows the car in a greater detail.
As you can see above, the new Mahindra XUV500 gets an updated front-fascia, which carries a bolder grille and a set of updated taillamps. The bumper is also new. The new grille gets dallops of chrome to enhance the premium appeal. The headlights hold new shape DRLs and projector units. The bumper is chunkier than before. In the side profile, it gets new diamond-cut alloy wheels that are bigger than before. The SUV also gets some chrome on the side sill. At the rear, it gets a new tailgate and a pair of new tail lamps. Together, these give the XUV500’s rear-end a completely new look. On the inside, the highlights include the new tan leather upholstery and the leather-top for the dashboard.
Seen above is our own walkaround video of the new Mahindra XUV500. You can see how the new styling bits look in real time. While even this video highlights the new bits on offer, there’s also a strong emphasis on the lack of legroom for the occupants of the third row of seats and even really less boot space with the third row of seats in place. The middle row is very spacious. Hence, Mahindra could have given it a sliding feature to free up some more space for the third-row occupants. But Mahindra has missed the opportunity to do so even in the third upgrade for the XUV500. The interior looks much more premium due to the leather treatment on the dashboard and the door trim. The key remote is also new. The touchscreen infotainment has been updated to offer more features. Even the 2018 XUV500 offers an electric sunroof on the top-end model. The best part, like we said, is the pricing. The new XUV500 is definitely better than the version it replaces. Yet it is priced slightly lower than the outgoing version. The XUV500 range now starts at Rs 12.32 lakh. The W11 variant, which has replaced the W10 variant, is as much as Rs 12,000 cheaper! All these updates should enable the new Mahindra XUV500 to continue enjoying a huge popularity in India for some more time to come.
