New Maruti Brezza gains wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay: Existing owners to also benefit

Maruti Suzuki has just given the hot selling new Brezza an update that will be loved not just by new buyers but also existing owners of the sub-4 meter compact SUV. The new Brezza has just gained wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for the SmartPlay Pro+ touchscreen infotainment system. In other words, the new Brezza also gains turn-by-turn navigation for the Head-Up Display and multi-information display. While the new features will come pre-programmed on Brezza compact SUVs manufactured from December 2022, existing owners can also benefit by downloading the Over-The-Air (OTA) update available on Maruti Suzuki’s website. Alternatively, they can also ask their nearest Maruti Suzuki dealer for the update, which will be downloaded onto their Brezzas’ touchscreen infotainment unit free of cost.

Before this update, the SmartPlay Pro+ touchscreen infotainment system offered on the new Maruti Brezza needed a cable to connect the smartphone to Android Auto and Apple CarPlay features. With the latest update, the cable has been eliminated, making connecting to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto a seamless experience. Going forward, expect to see this update in all Maruti Suzuki cars that have the SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system.

CNG powered Brezza: Coming soon!

Coming back to the new Brezza, the second generation model is bigger than the outgoing version and also looks quite substantial thanks to the new design language. More butch than ever before, the new Brezza is available with a 1.5 liter K15C petrol engine as standard, and soon there will be a Petrol-CNG option for those who seek lower running costs. While running on petrol the 1.5 liter K15C motor makes 100 Bhp-137 Nm, and on CNG, it produces 87 Bhp-122 Nm. The official launch of the CNG powered Maruti Brezza is just around the corner. The Brezza CNG has already begun reaching Maruti Suzuki Arena dealerships across the country, and official specifications of the SUV are already out. It’s just a matter of time before prices are announced, which are likely to be about Rs. 30,000 dearer than equivalent petrol variants. This will make the Brezza CNG quite affordable, and a great alternate to a diesel SUV.

Another notable highlight of the Brezza CNG is the fact that the SUV will be available with 5 speed manual and a 6 speed torque converter automatic transmissions – the same gearboxes that are offered with the petrol engine. With this move, Maruti Suzuki has given CNG SUV buyers the option of an automatic gearbox for the first time.

Strong hybrid also in the works

In the future, the new Maruti Brezza is likely to get a strong hybrid petrol engine. Maruti Suzuki already offers a strong hybrid on the Grand Vitara – a SUV that sits above the Brezza in terms of price and positioning. The automaker has also noted that the strong petrol hybrid option will soon be available in a range of new cars including the next-generation Swift and Dzire. So, it’s just a matter of time before the new Brezza also gains the strong hybrid option. The current Brezza is offered with a mild hybrid on the petrol engine.
