The Maruti Suzuki Swift is selling very fast in India. Over 60,000 people have already booked it, and in the next one month, expect this figure to even go to 1 lakh bookings. Official bookings commenced on 18th January, 2018. The 2018 Swift is the third generation of the highly successful hatchback in India. India is one of the biggest markets for the Swift, and Maruti has sold nearly 2 million hatchbacks here. The new Swift was launched in India during the Auto Expo 2018. Prices of the car start from Rs. 4.99 lakhs for the petrol base model, and the top-end diesel model costs Rs, 8.29 lakhs. These prices are introductory and may go up in future.
The reason why so many people are booking the new 2018 Swift is because they trust the Maruti Suzuki brand. Also, the new car is available in a lot more options than before. The Swift is a very strong brand that comes with good resale value as well. The new car looks very good and uses the same engines as the older model.
Reliability issues won’t be there because most of the mechanical bits are the same. The new car has a lot of improvements though. Firstly, it offers AMT option on both the petrol and diesel models. This makes the new Swift very attractive to city car buyers who want convenience and fuel efficiency.
The new Swift uses the HEARTECT platform which makes it much lighter than the 2nd generation model. Kerb weight has reduced by up to 80 Kgs, and this makes the new car peppier and fuel efficient – two more reasons to bring one home. The new Swift is also roomier thanks to a 20 mm increase in wheelbase, and a larger boot.
Alternatives to the new Swift include the Ford Figo and the Hyundai Grand i10 – both capable cars in their own right. If you want to stay within the Maruti family but want something larger than the Swift, you could consider the Baleno premium hatchback – a more spacious car.
