Coming Soon: CNG Powered New Maruti Swift

The country’s largest automaker, Maruti Suzuki, is all set to introduce the CNG variant for the newly launched fourth-generation Swift. This highly anticipated model is expected to make its official debut sometime in the coming few months. Once launched, the new Swift will become the brand’s first product with a CNG kit mated to the new Z12E engine. Reportedly, it will offer a mileage of 32 km/kg.
As we all are aware, Maruti has replaced the old K-Series engine of the Swift with its all-new Z12E engine. This 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine has lost a bit of power to make up for better mileage. It now generates 82 bhp of power and 112 Nm of torque.
However, to further increase its fuel efficiency, the company is about to launch a CNG iteration of this hatchback. It will then become the first model to feature the all-new Z12E engine with a CNG kit. This new engine with a CNG kit will have slightly reduced power and torque, but that is a tradeoff made when opting for a more fuel-efficient CNG powertrain.
Buyers of the standard Swift without a CNG kit have the option of a 5-speed manual transmission or an optional 5-speed AMT. However, the upcoming Swift CNG is only expected to be available with the manual transmission.
The current pricing for the new Maruti Swift ranges from Rs 6.49 lakh to Rs 9.64 lakh (ex-showroom). With the addition of the CNG option, buyers can expect a slight bump in the price. Reportedly, it could be approximately Rs 90,000 to 95,000 over the corresponding petrol variants.
At the moment, the exact variants to be offered with the CNG powertrain have yet to be confirmed. As for the mileage, the petrol version of the new Swift boasts an impressive 24.80 kmpl with the manual gearbox and 25.75 kmpl with the automatic transmission. Now, as per the reports, the new Swift CNG is projected to offer a mileage of over 32 km/kg.
Once launched, the new Swift CNG will be competing with popular models such as the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and the Tata Tiago, both of which offer CNG variants. The CNG variants of the third-generation Swift were very popular amongst Indian car buyers. If you are one of those individuals who are interested in getting the new Swift with the CNG kit, then you can wait for a little while.
It has been reported by Maruti Suzuki that the newly launched Swift has already garnered over 10,000 bookings. This brand-new generation Swift has managed to achieve this popularity in just 10 days. Currently, the company is taking a sum of Rs 11,000 as a reservation amount for the new Swift.
Maruti Suzuki has also commenced the deliveries of the new Swift in India. Also, a ton of people have already taken delivery and started modifying this new car as well. Here are a few Swifts which have been modified with new wheels. Take a look.
