The new Nissan Micra is offered in both petrol and diesel guises with the 1.2-litre petrol producing 76 bhp and 104 Nm of peak torque. The diesel engine, on the other hand, cranks out 63 bhp and 160 Nm of torque. The petrol engine of the Micra is exclusively paired with a CVT automatic gearbox while the diesel uses a 5-speed manual transmission. Since, the Nissan Micra petrol is only available with the CVT automatic gearbox, the price of the new Micra automatic car is Rs.1.32 lakhs lower than that of the base AMT version of the segment-leading Swift hatchback from Maruti Suzuki.

The new Nissan Micra comes with a host of safety features like dual airbags, speed-sensing door lock and driver seat belt reminder, rear parking sensors and a speed warning device as standard across all variants. ABS is still only offered with the top-spec Micra.

New features on the updated Micra include a 6.2’’ touchscreen infotainment display with the option of Mirror Link for navigation and Turn Indicators on the ORVMs. The new Micra carries over a host of tech features from its predecessor in the form of automatic climate control and steering-mounted controls among many others.

Unlike its more popular rival, the Maruti Swift, the Nissan Micra continues to feature tech found in more expensive cars that include automatic headlamps and rain-sensing windscreen wipers. The Micra also offers safety features, such as geofencing, location of nearby pit stops and the ability to locate the car and share said location with friends thanks to the NissanConnect setup integrated with the new car.

Speaking about the new Micra for India, Hardeep Singh Brar, Director, Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd. said,

With a fusion of European styling and Japanese technology, the Micra is Nissan’s most popular models in over 100 countries. Catering to the needs of Indian consumers for a safer, interactive and a more intelligent driving experience, we have introduced the more intelligent and sportier Nissan Micra with a host of features addressing these needs.

The new Nissan Micra will compete with the Maruti Swift, the Hyundai Grand i10, Tata Tiago and the Honda Brio for the wallets and hearts of the Indian car buyers.
