New Porsche 911 range launched in India

Porsche has finally said goodbye to atmospheric engine powered 911s as the turbo-only type 991.2 range has been launched in the country. While the rest of the range is yet to be updated with new powertrains, the ones launched today include the Carrera and the Turbo, and their respective ’S’ versions.

At a starting price of Rs 1.39 crore (ex-showroom, Mumbai), the Carrera comes powered by a 3-liter twin-turbocharged flat six engine that makes 370 PS and 450 Nm of maximum torque. The more powerful Carrera S uses the same engine but makes more power at 420 PS and 500 Nm. We get only the PDK automatic gearbox equipped version, and both of these are RWD.

The Turbo, on the other hand, uses a 3.8-liter twin-turbo that makes 540 PS and 710 Nm of maximum torque. The Turbo S on the other hand makes 580 PS and 750 Nm. Both are four-wheel drive, and come with rear-axle steering (optional on the Carrera S). A sub-3 second time to reach 100 kmph ensues, too.

Apart from the mechanical updates, changes from the type 991 911 include aesthetic upgrades like new head- and tail-lamps, updated bumpers, new engine cover, etc. In terms of body style, both coupe, convertible and Targa versions of the aforementioned models have been launched today.
