Mahindra is working on several new products for Indian market. Recently they launched the much awaited Thar in the market. The response from buyers for Thar is overwhelming. One such upcoming product from Indian utility vehicle (UV) manufacturer is the next gen XUV500. The SUV has been spotted testing on our roads several time. It is expected to be launched in the market later next year. So far, we have seen several digital renders of this upcoming SUV and here we have a new one that is based on the latest spy pictures of XUV500.
The image has been shared by Indian Auto on their website. First impression about the render is that it looks very neat. The artist has definitely done a great job in creating a render. Starting with the front, there is large bracket like twin DRL set up that is actually designed like an extension of the front grille. The DRL set up is actually a modern iteration of the one seen in Mahindra XUV300 compact SUV. The headlamp cluster looks a lot sharper than the current version with projector LED lights in it.
The signature Mahindra grille with vertical chrome slats give it a premium look at the front. Moving down, the bumper has been redesigned and gives XUV500 a much more muscular look. The render does not show fog lamps and the silver coloured skid plates are also missing. There is however black cladding on the lower portion of the bumper, wheel arches and side.

Coming to the side profile, XUV500 retains the boxy design. The 5 spoke alloy wheels get a new design and there is a possibility that next-gen XUV500 might get flush fitting door handles. As this is a new gen vehicle, it has grown in size and looks a lot more wider and longer than the current version. The upcoming SUV will also be offered as 7-seater SUV. The render does not show the rear but, it is expected to get a completely redesigned bumper and tail lights(probably LED).
Just like the exterior, the interior is also be redesigned. The main update would be the new twin digital screen on the dashboard. This new addition would give it a much more premium look. Apart from that, Mahindra is expected to offer features like automatic climate control, electric sunroof (probably panoramic), rear air conditioned vents and so on. The upcoming Mahindra XUV500 will be coming offered in both petrol and diesel engine options.
The petrol version would get the 2.0 liter-4 cylinder turbocharged mStallion engine whereas the diesel version will be powered by a 2.2 liter-4 cylinder mHawk turbocharged unit. Both versions are expected to get manual and automatic transmission options. It however not known whether the next-gen XUV500 will come with AWD option or not.
As mentioned above, XUV500 will be a 7-seater SUV and it will compete with cars like MG Hector Plus, upcoming SUVs like Tata Gravitas, all-new Hyundai Creta 7-seater and may be even the 7-seater version of Jeep Compass. Other than XUV500, Mahindra is also working on a next-gen Scorpio and it is also expected to launch next year.
