India’s largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki is working on a new hatchback. The car is a next-generation model of their Celerio hatchback. It has been spotted testing on Indian roads couple of times but, Maruti has not revealed anything about this upcoming hatchback so far. Maruti Celerio competes with cars like Tata Tiago, Hyundai Santro in the segment. Celerio was launched in the market back in 2014 and since then, the car has received only a minor update in 2017. Based on the spy pictures, here we have a render image that shows how the upcoming next-gen Maruti Celerio might look like.
The render has been shared by Indian Auto on their website . The current gen Celerio has a very basic boxy design whereas the upcoming Celerio has a different design. It has a curvy design and definitely looks good on the car. The headlamps are all redesigned and it looks like they were inspired from Maruti Swift. There is a chrome strip connecting the headlamps with Suzuki logo in the centre. The front grille is sleek and there is an air dam area on the bumper.
The bumper itself looks good with black garnish around the fog lamp area. Moving to the side profile, the artist has given the new Celerio, dual tone machine cut alloy wheels. The lower variants will be getting steel wheels only. The door handles and the ORVMs are all body coloured and the turn indicator is also placed on the ORVMs. For lower variants, the turn indicator will be on the side fender.

Another change from the current generation Celerio is the length. The new Maruti Celerio will be based on HEARTECT platform which will allow them to offer more space on the inside. The upcoming Celerio has a longer wheelbase and looks wider too. The interior of the upcoming Celerio has also been spied and that also has been completely revamped. The Air con vents has a different design and it might also get Maruti’s touchscreen infotainment system.
Other features that are expected to be seen in the upcoming Celerio include keyless entry, steering mounted controls, power windows, manual AC, passenger and co-driver airbags, reverse parking sensors and reverse parking camera. It would also get high speed alert system along with ABS and EBD.
This is just a render image which created on the basis of spy pictures. There is a possibility that original hatchback when launched might have a different design. Maruti Suzuki Celerio will be powered by the same 1.0 litre, three cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine. The engine generates 67 Ps and 90 Nm of torque. It will be available with manual and AMT gearbox options as current version. A CNG fuel option will also be introduced with new Celerio.
As mentioned above, there is no information regarding the launch of this hatchback but, it is expected that Maruti will be launching it sometime next year. The expected starting price for the new Maruti Suzuki Celerio is Rs 4.5 lakh, ex-showroom.
