The SUV market of India has gained a lot of popularity in recent times and manufacturers are bringing in new products in the market too. While we will get to see a range of all-new versions of the current models like the Hyundai Creta and Mahindra XUV500, many international manufacturers are launching all-new models in the India market too. These models will be launched in the Indian market for the first time ever! Here are five such SUVs that will be launched in the market for the first time.
The Volkswagen T-Roc will be the brand’s first launch in the Indian market next year. It will be based on the Indian-spec MQB-A0-IN platform that is derived from the MQB platform. It has been done to reduce the overall price of the car in the highly competitive Indian market. The car will take on the likes of Mahindra XUV500, Jeep Compass and higher-end variants of the Kia Seltos. It will get powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine. Since Volkswagen positions its vehicles at a premium, the T-Roc will get priced at around Rs 18 lakhs., It will be launched in the first half of next year and will be showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo.
MG Maxus D90
MG Motors has received an extremely good response for their first vehicle, the Hector in the market. Now the brand will launch the all-new electric vehicle, the MG ZS EV. The brand will also launch the Toyota Fortuner rivalling Maxus D90 in the market. Reportedly, it will be a rebadged version of the Baojun RS3 SUV available in many international markets. The Maxus D90 will take on the likes of Toyota Fortuner in the Indian market and will also get the 4×4 system. It will get only a diesel engine option.
The Tata Gravitas will be the brand’s answer to the stiff competition. The outside look of the Tata Gravitas will be something that is very different and looks imposing. Both Tata Harrier and Gravitas will share a lot of features among themselves including the engine and transmission too. Tata is expected to launch the automatic transmission with the Gravitas too.
Skoda is currently heading the India 2.0 strategy in India for the VW Group and the manufacturer is planning to launch a slew of new cars in the coming year. The Skoda Karoq will be the first car from the brand that will be launched in the Indian in the first half of 2020.
Citroen will officially enter the Indian market next year. The manufacturer will launch the AirCross as their first vehicle in the Indian market. It will be launched as a CKD product and will take on the likes of Jeep Compass. The C5 AirCross is underpinned by the EMP2 platform and design-wise, it looks unique. The car is longer than the Jeep Compass in length but it is not as big as the Mahindra XUV500. Since the Indian market is quite price-sensitive, we can definitely expect the brand to delete a few features to make it affordable and suitable for the Indian market.
