Why would someone sell their almost new Tata Safari and opt for a new ScorpioN? Here we have an owner who did that, and tells us why.
The owner says that he was having trouble with the manual transmission of the Safari. We think this might have been just personal discomfort with the constant gear shifts of city traffic, and not a problem with the transmission. Apart from that, he was also quite tempted by the Scorpio N Z4 variant, which according to him, offers a lot of features at just Rs 18.40 lakh – lower than the price he sold the Safari at.
Mahindra recently started delivery of the lower Z4 variants of their popular Scorpio N SUV. We have seen comparison videos of the Scorpio N on the internet. Now that people have started taking the delivery of the SUV, we are now seeing owners reaction videos and their experience with the SUV. Z4 variants of Scorpio N come with both petrol and diesel engine options and they are both available with manual and automatic transmission options. Here we have a video of a Tata Safari owner who sold his SUV and bought the Z4 variant of Mahindra Scorpio N.
The video has been uploaded by Rajni Chaudhary on her YouTube channel. In this video, the owner of this Scorpio N SUV had made booking and was waiting for the same. Mahindra had told him that he will be getting the delivery of this SUV between 12 December to January next year. Mahindra however managed to deliver the SUV a day before their promise. The owner was very happy with this as he is probably one of the first in his area to get delivery of the Z4 variant.

The owner bought the SUV in black shade and when compared to the top-end variant, Z4 is almost Rs 6 lakh cheaper but it does not feel cheap. The owner was using a Tata Safari top-end manual before this. He was having trouble with the manual gearbox while driving in city traffic conditions and wanted to use an automatic transmission. The owner sold the Safari for Rs 19 lakh and bought the on-road price of the Scorpio Z4 diesel automatic with extended one year warranty was Rs 18.40 lakh. He has definitely saved some money and he plans to spend it on minor modifications on his scorpio N SUV.
The owner is extremely happy with the SUV as he feel that this is a value for money product. He mentions that Tata was not offering him an SUV with these many features at this price point. The SUV may only be offering halogen lamps and miss out on features like fog lamps and alloy wheels but, the cabin of the Scorpio N does not look cheap at all. The owner mentions that the dual-tone paint job in the cabin looks exactly like the higher variants but, instead of leather, they have used plastic. The size of the touchscreen is slightly smaller than Z8 but, it offers decent features. It has a 4 speaker setup which has decent quality and the MID on the instrument cluster is slightly smaller.
The fit and finish of the panels looks neat and they do not give you a lower variant vibe. The steering wheel comes with multi-function control including cruise control. The AC is manual but, the way the buttons are laid out, it looks good. The owner was not a big fan of sunroofs so he is complaining about the missing sunroof in his Z4 Scorpio N. The owner now plans to install aftermarket alloy wheels, fog lamps and other minor modifications and also PPF on the SUV. The SUV seen here is the diesel verison which uses a 2.2 litre mHawk turbocharged engine that generates 175 Ps and 400 Nm of peak torque.
