Check out the beautifully made TVC that gives you a glimpse of what the Ignis is all about below.
Priced at Rs. 5.84 lakh for the base model, ex-showroom, the NEXA Ignis by Maruti Suzuki comes with a host of updates in terms of emissions, safety and fuel compliance. Now, what is it exactly that makes the Ignis the perfect city car? Come; let’s find out …
Tough, yet urban
Styled like the quintessential compact urban SUV, with a squared-off bonnet, flared wheel arches and a tall stance, the Ignis is the car you want to be in when you want to look over traffic. It only helps that the 180 mm high ground clearance puts you in command of whatever road you wish to take on in the urban chaos.
The ample ground clearance with short overhangs means that there’s nothing that can stop the Ignis. Bad city roads? The Ignis will dispatch them with ease. Mountain-like speed breakers? No problem! The Ignis will navigate every urban obstacle.
Even in terms of safety, the king of the urban playground has you totally covered. Ignis come with the NEXA Safety Shield with ESP, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, seat belt pre-tensioners, sturdy HEARTECT body shell, ISOFIX child seat anchorages and a pedestrian protection compliant front bumper and Hill Hold Assist (AGS only) is available only in Delta, Zeta and Alpha variant.
Powering the Ignis is the 1.2 liter VVT K-Series petrol engine – a tried, tested and supremely refined unit that puts out 61 KW at 6,000 rpm and 113 Nm of peak torque at 4,200 rpm, making Ignis a very zippy car indeed.
Moreover, the variable valve timing (VVT) technology ensures that there’s explosive power on command every time you demand it. When you take it easy, VVT technology will reward you with excellent fuel efficiency of up to 20.89 Kmpl. In fact, the Ignis is now RDE (real time driving emissions) compliant.
Comfortable and practical
While a zippy car like the Ignis is indeed fun-to-drive, living with a car in the longer term requires exemplary comfort, and a high degree of practicality. The Ignis ticks these boxes too, and how!
Wide seats that are very comfortable, suspension tuned specifically for Indian roads, excellent visibility all around thanks to the squared off profile of the car, 60:40 split seats, spacious dual tone interiors that can seat 5 adults, and automatic climate control are some of the various features of the Ignis that make it supremely comfortable and practical for everyday urban use.
A key highlight that deserves special mention is the AGS (Auto Gear Shift) transmission option that makes driving the Ignis effortless, even in the heaviest of city traffic conditions.
Technology now dominates every aspect of our lives, and the tech-laden Ignis is a reflection of this. One of the first things that nearly everyone entering the Ignis will notice is the prominent 17.78 cm Smart Play studio touchscreen that packs in a boat load of cutting-edge technology. By seamlessly connecting to Android and iPhones, the Smart Play studio will offer texting, calling, playing music and navigation. The integrated reverse camera is another feature that elevates the tech experience of the Smart Play studio.
Other key technological highlights of the Ignis include steering mounted call, voice and audio controls, engine start stop button and electrically folding ORVMs. These features come together to elevate the urban driving experience to the next level.
Designed for the young at heart, the Ignis looks tough yet sophisticated, and has the ability to turn heads everywhere it goes. The butch and bold bits on the car that give it terrific street presence includes the prominent chrome splashed front grille and body cladding.
The SUV-like stance of the car is further accentuated by sturdy skid plates at the front and rear, 15-inch all-black alloy wheels, a striking rear spoiler, and roof rails. The Ignis is available in no less than 9 colours, including three dual-tone colours.
