The sales of Tata Nexon EV in the last financial year stands at 3,805 units. Truly, these figures are of 11 months as it was a full lockdown in India last year and there was no manufacturing and sales happened in the month of April 2020.

Since the launch of the Nexon EV, Tata has sold around 4,091 units. The all-new Nexon EV was launched in the Indian market last year in January 2020. On August 18th, it crossed the sales of 1,000 units, only seven months after its launch. According to Autocar Professional, the car reached the 2,000 unit mark in 10 months on 2nd December 2020. The car crossed the 4,000 units sales mark by the end of March 2021, 14 months after the launch of the car.

Tata Nexon EV’s closest competitor is the MG ZS EV. MG managed to sell 1,499 units in the Financial Year 2021. Other cars like the Tata Tigor, Hyundai Kona EV, Mahindra Verito EV and Mahindra E2o did not even touch 500 units of sales individually. This makes the Tata Nexon EV the most popular electric vehicle in India by a big margin. In fact, every 3rd car out of five electric cars sold in India is a Nexon EV.

Tata claims that the Nexon EV can do 312 km on a full charge. It is ARAI tested range and in the real world, the range drops depending on the driving conditions. You may able to churn out a maximum of 250-270 km on a single charge from the car, which is not bad at all. The EV can be charged through the home wall 15A socket and it takes about 8 hours to charge.

Through the fast DC charging socket, the car takes about 60 minutes to charge up to 80 per cent. Also, it gets the energy recovery system that activates by itself when the vehicle is coasting. However, one cannot set the level of regeneration as one can do with the Hyundai ZS EV or the Hyundai Kona EV.

The Nexon EV is the most affordable SUV in the Indian market. It undercuts the MG ZS EV by Rs 70,000, which is a big margin. The value-for-money price tag makes the Nexon EV the first choice for many in the market. The all-new Nexon EV also gets connected features.

Tata has introduced the ZConnect app with the car that can be used to check the vehicle’s status and health of the battery. It also gives safety-related updates. The connected services are also useful to make the car secure by putting up geo-fence. Also, the owners can get instant alerts if the car is breached by someone. The ZConnect system also monitors the driving sense on the parameters of acceleration, braking and average speed among others.
