Next generation Skoda Yeti disguised as VW Tiguan, caught

Skoda might be working on a seven-seat SUV called Kodiaq, but let’s not forget the Yeti will soon be due an update, too. And it turns out, a test mule has been spotted already by Motor1. And although hiding under a VW Tiguan’s bodywork, there’s a high chance that it’s the next generation Skoda Yeti underneath.

It will be based on VW’s MQB platform, and while it’s too soon to say whether the Tiguan-like styling will continue or not. The test mule was spotted with a Skoda-like multi-slat radiator grille.

The Tiguan will make it to the Indian market next year, and is likely to be offered with a 2-liter diesel engine (that makes 150 PS and 340 Nm). Globally it comes in both AWD and FWD versions, and the same can be expected in India, too.

Currently the Yeti (in India) comes with a 2-liter diesel engine, but misses out on automatic gearbox. It gets an optional AWD system, and is certainly one of the best handling crossovers on sale.
