According to a report by IAB, the next generation VW Polo hatchback is just about a year away. The company is yet to make an announcement regarding it, but the report also goes on to say that the 2017 Polo will be based on a new platform.
The said platform — MQB A0 in VW speak — will also underpin the T-Cross SUV that was showcased in concept form at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. Engine options will include TSI and TDI units and we might just see the current 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine go away — not that it will be missed a lot, mind!
It’s again too soon to talk about the vehicle’s arrival in India, considering the current Polo line-up has a lot to offer. Apart from the regular updates etc., there’s the Polo GTI performance hatchback and the Ameo compact sedan headed for the Indian market later this year.
