According to Team-BHP, Nissan has started developing a new MPV that will be priced under 10 lakhs. It will be based on the Triber MPV which is currently the most affordable 7-seater MPV that you can get in the Indian market.
The new MPV will be based on the CMF-A platform which is already being used on the Triber, Nissan Magnite and the Renault Kiger. Nissan might modify the platform because the new MPV will be larger than the Triber. Moreover, we can expect a good crash test rating from it, considering Triber scored 4 stars on the Global NCAP crash test, Magnite scored 4 stars in the ASEAN Crash test and Renault is aiming for a 4-star rating for the Kiger but it has not yet been tested.
The engine and gearbox options will also be carried forward. So, expect two petrol engines on offer. There will be a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated engine and a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. The naturally aspirated engine produces 72 PS of max power and 96 Nm of peak torque. The turbocharged engine produces 100 PS of max power and 160 Nm of peak torque.

The gearbox options are also not known as of now. But, we can assume a 5-speed manual gearbox would be standard on both engines. The naturally aspirated engine could use a 5-speed AMT from the Renault Kiger while the turbocharged engine will be offered with a CVT automatic transmission.
As of now, not many details is known about the new MPV. There have been no test mules spotting and we also do not know anything about the design of the new MPV. It might happen that the new MPV is currently in the development phase. Once launches it will be competing against the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, XL6 and Mahindra Marazzo.
Nissan Magnite is a success
Nissan’s most recent launch in the Indian market was the Magnite and it has been an incredible success for the manufacturer. It is the best selling vehicle for the manufacturer. Nissan received 72,000 bookings for the Magnite and till now they have delivered more than 30,000 units of Magnites to their customers.
Nissan working on a new variant of Magnite
Nissan is also working on a new variant of a Magnite. It will be called XV Executive and it will sit between XL and XV trims. The new trim has already been spotted at a dealership yard and is expected to launch in the coming weeks. The Magnite starts at Rs. 5.71 lakhs ex-showroom and goes up to Rs. 10.15 lakhs ex-showroom.
The new variant will cost Rs. 52,000 more than the XL variant but will come with a lot more equipment. There will be a new 9-inch Android-based touchscreen infotainment system that will come with Split Screen, Google Maps, MirrorLink and video playback support. It will also come with 16-inch alloy wheels, a rear parking camera, silver side cladding, ISOFIX child seat mounts, a 60:40 split rear seat with centre armrest and a height-adjustable driver’s seat.
